The ‘Outlander’ universe dominated Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con, as Starz revealed a host of new details for the franchise’s future. The panel confirmed that the eighth and final season of the time-travelling, epic romance will premiere in early 2026, while prequel series ‘Outlander: Blood of My Blood’ will debut with a two-episode premiere on Friday, 8th August 2025.
In the UK, both shows will air on MGM+ the day after their US debut, keeping episodes almost in sync with the American schedule.
Fans were treated to the first teaser for ‘Outlander’ Season 8, which continues the sweeping saga of Claire and Jamie Fraser. For the prequel, Starz shared two new clips offering a taste of the epic story:
‘Henry & Julia Beauchamp Escape To The Scottish Highlands’ – Featuring Hermione Corfield (The Road Dance) as Julia Moriston and Jeremy Irvine (Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again) as Henry Beauchamp, the parents of Claire Fraser.
‘Brian Fraser & Ellen MacKenzie Meet In Secret’ – Featuring Jamie Roy (Condor’s Nest) as Brian Fraser and Harriet Slater (Pennyworth) as Ellen MacKenzie, the parents of Jamie Fraser.
To make the event even more special, Raya Yarbrough performed her iconic rendition of The Skye Boat Song, leading a fan sing-along before a full bagpipe performance transported the crowd back to Scotland, perfectly setting the mood for the prequel panel.
‘Outlander’ is based on Diana Gabaldon’s best-selling novels and produced by Sony Pictures Television, with Matthew B. Roberts serving as showrunner alongside executive producers Ronald D. Moore, Maril Davis, and others. The prequel also comes from Roberts and explores two intertwined love stories, spanning from the battlefields of World War I to the rugged Scottish Highlands of the 18th century, that ultimately lead to the meeting of Claire and Jamie’s parents.
‘Outlander: Blood of My Blood’ premieres Friday, 8th August 2025 on Starz in the US and Saturday, 9th August 2025 on MGM+ in the UK. ‘Outlander’ Season 8 will arrive in early 2026 on the same platforms.
