‘The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon’ Gets Fourth & Final Season Renewal Ahead Of Season 3 Premiere

AMC has officially renewed The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixonfor a fourth and final season. The news was announced during the show’s Hall H panel at San Diego Comic-Con, where Norman Reedus (The Boondock Saints) and Melissa McBride (The Walking Dead), who play Daryl Dixon and Carol Peletier, were joined by showrunner David Zabel, executive producer Scott M. Gimple, and fellow executive producer Greg Nicotero.

Production on the eight-episode final season begins this month in Spain, continuing the show’s European adventure through locations including Madrid, Bilbao, Galicia, Andalucía, Segovia, and Toledo.

Before that final chapter, fans can look forward to Season 3, which premieres Sunday, 7th September 2025, on AMC in the US. In the UK, it will return on Sky Max and NOW, with a premiere date yet to be announced. Alongside the renewal news, AMC has also released the official trailer (above) for the upcoming season, teasing an intense new chapter for Daryl and Carol as they fight to survive far from home.

This next instalment follows the pair as they continue their journey towards home and the people they love, but the path leads them through distant lands with ever-changing and unfamiliar conditions, revealing new sides of the Walker apocalypse.

Speaking about the renewal, Norman Reedus said:

“Daryl Dixon has been an incredible journey. I thank each and every fan who has joined us on this ride. It’s been a privilege to build this story for these characters, and we have so much gratitude for how it’s been embraced. Your love and support have made every moment worth it. This finale isn’t just an ending; it’s a celebration of what we’ve all shared together. Keep carrying that love forward – Daryl’s journey is far from over.”

Melissa McBride added:

“It has been the thrill of a lifetime to shoot this part of Daryl and Carol’s adventure together in Europe and I keep coming back for more of these two characters. There is still so much story left to tell and so much for the fans to look forward to. I’m going to revel in the moments as they come and am excited for the fans to see what we have been working on in these incredible locations.”

Dan McDermott, president of entertainment and AMC Studios for AMC Networks, praised the pair’s contributions to the franchise:

“Across two extraordinary series spanning almost two decades – Norman and Melissa have given life to two of the most iconic characters in the history of television. Daryl and Carol have taken fans on an unforgettable and intensely human journey of challenge, survival, hope and friendship… Whatever awaits these two beloved characters, we know The Walking Dead Universe is a timeless franchise that holds endless possibilities for story and characters new and old.”

The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon‘ Season 3 premieres Sunday, 7th September 2025 on AMC in the US, and will return to Sky Max and NOW in the UK (date TBC).

Noooo we need more. Where will we get our daryl, carol and zobue fix when it finishes. Sad times. They better not cancel negan and Maggie too
