Netflix has dropped the first images and confirmed the premiere date for the return of ‘A Man on the Inside’, with Ted Danson back for another undercover case when the hit comedy series returns this November.
Season 2 reunites Danson’s Charles Nieuwendyk with his daughter Emily (Mary Elizabeth Ellis – It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia), PI Julie (Lilah Richcreek Estrada – History of Them), and fellow Wheeler College staff, including Didi (Stephanie Beatriz – Brooklyn Nine-Nine) and Calbert (Stephen McKinley Henderson – The Newsroom). They’ll be joined by an impressive roster of new cast members, bringing even more intrigue (and suspects) into Charles’s latest assignment.
Charles Goes Undercover on Campus
This season sees Charles trading retirement homes for academia when Wheeler College president Jack Berenger (Max Greenfield – New Girl) becomes the target of a blackmailer. To investigate, Charles goes undercover as a professor, plunging into the politics of campus life. Suspects abound, including charismatic billionaire Brad Vinick (Gary Cole – Veep), whose hefty donation to the school has stirred controversy, and various eccentric staff and students.
Things get even more complicated when Charles meets Mona (Mary Steenburgen – Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist), a free-spirited music teacher whose zest for life rekindles feelings he thought he had long buried after the death of his wife. But could Mona be connected to the case he’s supposed to crack?

Meet the New Cast
Joining Danson for the new season are Mary Steenburgen as Mona Margadoff, Max Greenfield as Wheeler College president Jack Berenger, Jason Mantzoukas (Big Mouth) as Apollo Lambrakis, Constance Marie (With Love) as Vanessa, David Strathairn (Nomadland) as Dr. Cole, Michaela Conlin (Bones) as Andrea Yi, Sam Huntington (Being Human) as Max Griffin, Jill Talley (Mr. Show) as Holly Bodgemark, Madison Hu (The Brothers Sun) as Claire, Lisa Gilroy (Jury Duty) as Kelseigh Rose, and Linda Park (Bosch) as Elizabeth Muki, who all step into Wheeler’s halls alongside returning favourites Ellis, Estrada, Beatriz and Henderson.

Returning With Acclaim
Based on Maite Alberdi’s Oscar-nominated documentary The Mole Agent, ‘A Man on the Inside’ was created by Michael Schur (The Good Place) and became a breakout Netflix success. Season 1 spent five weeks in Netflix’s Global Top 10, scored Golden Globe and SAG Award nominations for Danson, and was named one of AFI’s top TV programs of 2024.
The comedy has been praised for balancing humour and heart, with Schur himself joking:
“We are thrilled to make another season of A Man on the Inside, starring young up-and-comer Ted Danson. From our partners at Netflix and Universal TV to the writers, cast, and crew, it’s a truly exceptional team of talented and lovely people, with one notable exception (young up-and-comer Ted Danson, who’s kind of a nightmare).”
Behind the Scenes
Alongside Schur, executive producers include Morgan Sackett, David Miner (3 Arts Entertainment), Maite Alberdi and Marcela Santibañez (Micromundo Producciones), and Julie Goldman and Christopher Clements (Motto Pictures). The series is produced by Universal Television.
‘A Man on the Inside’ Season 2 premieres Thursday, 20th November 2025 on Netflix.
