Netflix has finally revealed when we’ll return to the Continent, as ‘The Witcher’ Season 4 is set to land this October, and we also have an exclusive first clip of Liam Hemsworth stepping into Geralt of Rivia’s boots.
During the Canelo v Crawford fight, Hemsworth introduced a pre-recorded message revealing the release date alongside the debut clip. “Hey everyone, Liam Hemsworth here. I am excited to announce that Season 4 of The Witcher will be streaming on Netflix, October 30th. Here is a quick clip of me in action as Geralt of Rivia.”
A Fresh White Wolf
Season 3 was not loved by fans after the show strayed heavily away from Andrzej Sapkowski’s novels. That creative choice eventually led to Henry Cavill, a huge Witcher fan who adored the books, stepping away from the role of Geralt. The swords and medallion now pass to Hemsworth, and fans are hoping for a tonal reset.
Much of the early reaction to the clip has actually been supportive of Hemsworth himself. Many comments stressed “don’t blame Liam” if the show falters, placing the responsibility firmly with the producers. One fan jokingly renamed the series “Switcher”, while another quipped that a shot of Geralt ripping out a wraith’s heart felt “quite symbolic of what the producers did to the show.”
What’s Season 4 About?
After the Continent-altering events of Season 3, Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri find themselves separated by a raging war and countless enemies. As their paths diverge and their goals sharpen, they stumble on unexpected allies eager to join their journeys. If they can accept these found families, they may just have a chance at reuniting for good.
The season runs for 8 episodes, each around 50 minutes, with Lauren Schmidt Hissrich returning as creator and showrunner.
Cast And New Faces
Season 4 sees Anya Chalotra (Sherwood), Freya Allan (Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes), and Joey Batey (Knightfall) return as Yennefer, Ciri, and Jaskier. New arrivals include Laurence Fishburne (The Matrix) as Regis, Sharlto Copley (District 9) as bounty hunter Leo Bonhart, James Purefoy (Rome) as Skellen, and Danny Woodburn (Seinfeld) as fan-favourite dwarf Zoltan.
Other returning cast includes Eamon Farren (Cahir), Anna Shaffer (Triss), Mahesh Jadu (Vilgefortz), Mimî M Khayisa (Fringilla), Graham McTavish (Dijkstra), and Bart Edwards (Emhyr).
