Apple TV+ has released the official trailer for ‘Down Cemetery Road‘, the gripping new thriller from the team behind Slow Horses, which is currently airing its fifth season on the streamer. Based on Mick Herron’s “Zoë Boehm” novels, the series stars Emma Thompson (Sense and Sensibility, Good Luck to You, Leo Grande) and Ruth Wilson (Luther, His Dark Materials).
The story kicks off with an explosion in a quiet Oxford suburb. In the aftermath, a girl disappears, and neighbour Sarah Tucker (Wilson) finds herself drawn into the mystery. She teams up with Zoë Boehm (Thompson), a struggling private investigator, and together they uncover a dangerous conspiracy where nothing is quite as it seems.
The trailer teases the twists to come. Early on, a “big bang,” two bodies, and a missing child spark suspicions of a cover-up that could “go all the way to the top”, or “all the way to the middle” as her doubtful colleague puts it. Boehm herself is painted as a “nosy woman” who may have stumbled into the heart of something huge, while warnings ring out that she is swimming in “shark-infested waters”. We also get a flavour of the witty dialogue that makes Herron’s work so distinctive, such as an exchange that sees her dryly mocked for her attempt to “zoom in” on some video footage. The trailer closes on the ominous promise: “One way or the other the story’s going to come out.” It is classic Herron territory: sharp, dangerous, and darkly funny.
‘Down Cemetery Road’ is written and executive produced by Morwenna Banks (Slow Horses, Funny Woman), directed by Natalie Bailey (Bay of Fires, Run), and produced by 60Forty Films. Banks is joined by executive producers Jamie Laurenson, Hakan Kousetta, Tom Nash, Emma Thompson, and Herron himself.
This is Apple TV+’s second Herron adaptation after the award-winning Slow Horses, which stars Gary Oldman and is now five seasons in. Where that series revels in the shambolic world of British spies, ‘Down Cemetery Road’ takes the same sharp humour and twisty plotting into an Oxford suburb full of missing children, buried secrets, and conspiracies that strike much closer to home.
‘Down Cemetery Road’ premieres Wednesday, 29th October 2025, on Apple TV+, with the first two episodes available at launch, followed by new episodes every Wednesday.
