Netflix has released the first images and confirmed the UK premiere date for ‘Man vs Baby’, the festive follow-up to Rowan Atkinson’s 2022 slapstick hit ‘Man vs Bee’. The four-part comedy will see the ever hapless Trevor Bingley face his biggest challenge yet, not a stinging insect this time, but a very small and very noisy human.
After a job looking after a high tech mansion ended in disaster thanks to an irritating insect in ‘Man vs Bee’, Trevor Bingley (Rowan Atkinson) has left the stressful world of housesitting for the quieter life of a school caretaker. That is, until a lucrative offer to look after a luxury London penthouse over Christmas proves too tempting to resist. But on the last day of term, when no one comes to collect the Baby Jesus from the school nativity, Trevor finds himself with another undersized and very unexpected companion. With a penthouse to protect and a baby to burp, will Trevor be able to have the calm Christmas he hopes for, or will festivities descend into chaos?
The new images released by Netflix show Atkinson’s Trevor in full caretaker mode, cradling a baby while surrounded by festive mayhem, hinting that once again, the actor’s flair for physical comedy will take centre stage. The Christmas setting promises a blend of cosy family spirit and escalating disaster, very much in the tradition of Atkinson’s beloved screen characters.
Created and written by Will Davies and Rowan Atkinson, ‘Man vs Baby’ once again brings back the creative team behind ‘Man vs Bee’. David Kerr (Inside No. 9, Johnny English Strikes Again) returns as director, with Kate Fasulo as series producer, and Chris Clark and Will Davies serving as executive producers for HouseSitter Productions. The series runs for four 30-minute episodes.
While Netflix has not yet released a trailer, filming wrapped earlier this year in London, and the streamer describes the new series as a “chaotic festive comedy about one man, one baby, and one penthouse full of trouble.” Given Atkinson’s long track record of turning minor mishaps into comedic masterpieces, it is safe to say Christmas will not stay calm for long.
