Things are about to get messy in East Texas. ITV has confirmed that ‘The Hunting Wives’, the juicy, high-society thriller from Lionsgate Television, will stream exclusively on ITVX this December, just in time for Twixmas viewing marathons and festive family avoidance.
The series follows Brittany Snow (Pitch Perfect) as Sophie O’Neil, who once had an idyllic life in Boston with her husband Evan Jonigkeit (Sweetbitter) and their son. After a traumatic event shakes their family, they head south to Texas for a fresh start. But Sophie soon finds herself drawn into the orbit of the magnetic and mysterious Margo Banks, played by Malin Åkerman (Billions), whose husband, Jed (Dermot Mulroney, My Best Friend’s Wedding) just happens to be Graham’s new boss.
What begins as an intoxicating friendship quickly pulls Sophie into Margo’s glittering social circle, an exclusive inner group of wealthy women known as the Hunting Wives. Between cocktail-fuelled parties, lavish lifestyles, and increasingly risky escapades, Sophie is lured into a world of temptation and danger. When a young local woman is found murdered, the cracks begin to show, and the hunt for the truth threatens to expose more than anyone bargained for.
Created and written by Rebecca Cutter (Hightown), the show comes from Lionsgate Television and 3 Arts Entertainment, with Cutter also serving as showrunner and executive producer. The series has been one of 2025’s breakout hits internationally, combining the glossy allure of Big Little Lies with the simmering menace of Southern gothic.
The first season debuted earlier this year in the U.S., where it became an unexpected streaming sensation. Interestingly, that success sparked a bit of behind-the-scenes drama of its own. Netflix, which licensed the show domestically in the States, quickly ordered a second season… but wanted global exclusivity. Lionsgate had already sold Season 1 to multiple international broadcasters, including ITV in the UK, leading to a complex renegotiation of rights. The result: ITVX retains the exclusive UK streaming rights for Season 1, while the second season is expected to land on Netflix in most territories, likely including the UK.
Whether you’re in it for the mystery, the glamour, or the wickedly sharp power games, ‘The Hunting Wives’ promises to be perfect post-Christmas escapism.
‘The Hunting Wives’ Season 1 premieres Saturday, 27th December 2025 on ITVX.
