Sky’s iconic sports comedy panel show ‘A League of Their Own’ is hanging up its boots after an incredible 15-year run, with one last victory lap as it returns for its 20th and final season this November on Sky Max and streaming on NOW.
Host Romesh Ranganathan once again takes to the centre spot, joined by long-time team captain Jamie Redknapp, Lioness legend Jill Scott, and series regular Micah Richards, as they lead the blue and red teams through a final round of sporting silliness, side-splitting challenges, and competitive chaos. Across two decades on air, ‘A League of Their Own’ has become a cornerstone of Sky’s entertainment line-up, attracting a loyal fanbase and racking up two BAFTA Awards along the way.
The show first launched in 2010 under James Corden’s stewardship and quickly became a Friday night favourite thanks to its mix of sharp comedy, sporting trivia, and completely ridiculous stunts. Whether it was Freddie Flintoff wrestling in Lycra, Jamie Redknapp clinging to a bungee cord, or celebrity guests discovering they’re much less athletic than they thought, ‘A League of Their Own’ delivered some of the funniest and most unpredictable TV moments of the past decade and a half.
Since its debut, the format has spawned nine seasons of ‘A League of Their Own: Road Trip’, with the teams taking their antics across the world — from the US to Southeast Asia — proving that the chaos only got bigger the further they travelled. Along the way, a revolving door of guests including Premier League legends, Olympic gold medallists, Hollywood stars, and pop icons have joined in the madness, from Usain Bolt and Anthony Joshua to Kevin Hart and David Walliams.
The upcoming 20th season promises to celebrate everything fans love about the show, blending nostalgia with all-new surprises. Expect more laugh-out-loud games, unpredictable celebrity appearances, and the kind of gravity-defying challenges that made the show a household name.
Executive Director of Original Unscripted at Sky, Phil Edgar-Jones, previously said: “Series 20 is the perfect opportunity to celebrate everything A League of Their Own has achieved and to give it the send-off it truly deserves. We’re incredibly proud of the show — it’s been a cornerstone of Sky’s entertainment line-up for fifteen years and has delivered endless laughter, heart, and unforgettable moments.”
Meanwhile, Murray Boland, Creative Director at CPL Productions, added: “The idea we’d still be making the show in 15 years’ time, having also made nine series of ALOTO Road Trips and won two BAFTAs would’ve sounded totally impossible. It’s been an incredible journey. We would like to thank all the amazing performers, guests and sports stars for all the laughs and inspiration, and of course the fans who have supported the show over the years.”
The final season was filmed in Manchester earlier this year, in front of some of the biggest live audiences the show has ever had, marking a fitting send-off for a series that has brought so much joy to sports and comedy fans alike.
‘A League of Their Own’ Season 20 premieres Wednesday, 12th November 2025 at 9pm on Sky Max and streaming on NOW.
