‘Bullseye’ is officially back, and ITV is betting on a bullseye of nostalgia and laughs as Freddie Flintoff (Top Gear, A League of Their Own) steps up to host the brand-new revival of one of Britain’s most beloved gameshows. The classic quiz and darts series will return to ITV1 and ITVX on Sunday nights, bringing families together once again to shout “You can’t beat a bit of Bully!” at their TVs.
Flintoff takes over the oche as master of ceremonies, joined by scorer Richard Ashdown, and a host of world-class darts professionals lending their skills to the action. The first episode features teenage darts prodigy Luke Littler, who will show off his remarkable precision as the contestants try to keep their cool and hit the right answers as well as the right numbers.
Produced by Potato, the ITV Studios label behind The Chase, the new Bullseye follows the original format that made it a household favourite. Three pairs of contestants compete in rounds that mix general knowledge with dart-throwing skill, each team featuring a ‘thrower’ and a ‘knower’. The goal is to build up points and prizes before the final pair face the ultimate decision: to take the winnings or risk it all for Bully’s Mystery Star Prize, which could be anything from a brand-new car to a once-in-a-lifetime holiday.
Flintoff, known for his quick wit and competitive streak, feels like the perfect fit for the show’s mix of humour and pressure. ITV will be hoping he brings the same energy that made the 2024 Bullseye Christmas Special such a huge success, drawing more than 8 million viewers and sparking the demand for this full series revival.
The original Bullseye, hosted by Jim Bowen, became a Sunday night institution for over a decade from 1981 to 1995, regularly hitting audiences of 10 million and cementing itself as a slice of pure British telly history. With its unforgettable catchphrases, prizes that were either brilliant or bizarre, and its loveably earnest tone, it remains one of the most fondly remembered shows of its era.
Now, nearly 30 years after it last aired as a regular series, the game that defined a generation of darts fans and quiz lovers is back for a new audience, promising a modern twist while keeping that familiar warm glow of the original.
‘Bullseye’ returns Sunday, 9th November 2025 at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
