Apple TV has released the gripping first trailer for ‘Hijack‘ Season 2, teasing a brand new crisis for Idris Elba (Luther) as corporate negotiator Sam Nelson. The hit thriller returns this January, shifting the action from the skies to the streets of Berlin, with a hostage situation unfolding deep in the city’s underground rail network.
The new season finds Sam once again caught in the middle of a life-or-death scenario when a Berlin U-Bahn train and its passengers are seized by an unknown group. While chaos erupts below ground, authorities scramble above, racing against the clock to save hundreds of innocent commuters. One wrong move could tip everything into disaster, and if there’s anything Season 1 taught us, it’s that Sam Nelson’s instincts tend to be the only thing standing between order and catastrophe.
Created by George Kay and Jim Field Smith, the returning series also brings back familiar faces alongside an impressive roster of new cast members. Elba is joined by Christine Adams, Max Beesley and Archie Panjabi, with new arrivals Christian Näthe (Ballon), Clare-Hope Ashitey (Seven Seconds), Lisa Vicari (Django), Toby Jones (Mr Bates vs The Post Office), Karima McAdams (Dune: Prophecy) and Christiane Paul (Counterpart).
‘Hijack’ became one of Apple TV’s biggest breakout thrillers, earning a Certified Fresh score and hitting the Nielsen Top 10 thanks to its real-time tension and Elba’s commanding central performance. Season 2 looks to be upping the stakes in every direction, with a fresh setting, a bigger threat, and a whole new web of danger for Sam Nelson to unpick with only his wits and negotiation skills.
