The BBC has released first-look images as ‘Silent Witness’ prepares to return in February with a brand new series that sees the long-running crime drama relocate to Birmingham for the first time.
Set and filmed in the city, the new run introduces the Sir William Bowman Centre of Excellence as the team’s latest base, placing Dr. Nikki Alexander and her colleagues at the heart of a fresh slate of complex and often unsettling cases.
Back for five new stories told across ten episodes, the series sees Emilia Fox (Significant Other) returning as Dr. Nikki Alexander alongside David Caves (Des) as Jack, Maggie Steed (EastEnders) as Harriet, and Fran Mills (Andor) as Kit. The move to Birmingham brings new challenges, darker investigations, and some of the toughest cases the team has faced yet.
The series also boasts an extensive guest cast, including Lydia Wilson (Nine Bodies in a Mexican Morgue), Chris Reilly (Slow Horses), Ben Batt (Riot Women), Vinette Robinson (Boiling Point), Selin Hizli (Am I Being Unreasonable?), Gerard Kearns (Waiting For The Out), Adam Rayner (Superman and Lois), Phaldut Sharma (EastEnders), Dino Fetscher (Fool Me Once), Cat Simmons (The Bill), Chris Coghill (Slow Horses), and Mollie Winnard (All Creatures Great and Small).
Produced by BBC Studios Drama, the series is executive produced by Suzi McIntosh for BBC Studios, Nawfal Faizullah for the BBC, and Emilia Fox, with Seán Gleeson serving as producer. BBC Studios will handle global sales.
‘Silent Witness’ returns Monday, 2nd February 2026 on BBC iPlayer and BBC One.
