After years of rebrands, licensing deals and content hopping between platforms, HBO Max is finally launching in the UK & Ireland this March, bringing HBO, Warner Bros, DC, Max Originals and TNT Sports together in one place for the first time.
The Warner Bros. Discovery streaming service will officially arrive in late March, launching with a heavyweight mix of prestige TV, blockbuster movies, brand-new originals and live sport, available both direct to consumers and via major partners including Sky and Prime Video.
For UK and Irish viewers, this marks the first time content from HBO, Warner Bros. Pictures, Warner Bros. Television, DC Studios and Max Originals will all live under a single streaming roof, rather than being split across multiple services.
One of the big launch titles is award-winning Max Original The Pitt, which will be available in full from day one, with the entire first season dropping at launch. Episodes from the second season will then roll out weekly.
HBO Max will also become the UK streaming home for major HBO series ahead of new seasons, including Euphoria and House of the Dragon, alongside new shows such as Lanterns and the upcoming Harry Potter TV series. Should be pointed out, we believe Sky will retain the non-exclusive broadcast rights in the UK to shows such as House Of The Dragon, so they may pop up on Sky directly, alongside premiering on HBO Max UK.
Within the first few months of launch, subscribers will also see new HBO Originals, including DTF St. Louis, Rooster, and the third and final season of The Comeback. On top of that, the service will host extensive back catalogues, with full runs of shows such as Succession, Friends, The Sopranos and Game of Thrones available to stream.
Movie fans are well covered too. HBO Max will carry a strong Warner Bros. slate, including Superman, One Battle After Another, Sinners, A Minecraft Movie and Dune: Part One, alongside the complete Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings film franchises.
TNT Sports Moves to HBO Max
HBO Max also becomes the new streaming home of TNT Sports in the UK, offering live coverage of the Premier League, UEFA Champions League, domestic cup competitions, rugby, MotoGP, UFC, Grand Slam tennis, cycling, winter sports and more.
Existing TNT Sports subscribers via partners such as Sky, EE/BT and Virgin Media will also be able to access their sports content through HBO Max once the service launches.

Stream on 2 devices in Full HD
Includes the majority of HBO Max shows and movies, excluding films that first stream on the service following their theatrical release window.
This plan will be included for Sky customers and on the streaming service NOW.
Standard with Ads (£5.99/month – €6.99/month in IE)
Stream on 2 devices in Full HD, with up to 30 downloads
Includes all HBO Max shows and movies, including films that first stream on the service following their theatrical release window.
Standard (£9.99/month – €10.99/month in IE)
Stream on 2 devices in Full HD, with up to 30 downloads
All HBO Max shows and movies on an ad-free basis, including films that first stream on the service following their theatrical release window.
Premium (£14.99/month – €15.99/month in IE)
Stream on 4 devices in 4K Ultra HD with Dolby Atmos where available, with up to 100 downloads
The full ad-free HBO Max experience, including films that first stream on the service following their theatrical release window.
TNT Sports Plan (£30.99/month)
Includes TNT Sports 1–4, TNT Sports Ultimate, live event feeds and TNT Sports Original Documentaries, limited to two concurrent streams
Available as a standalone subscription in the UK or as an add-on to selected HBO Max entertainment plans.
Where and How to Watch
At launch, HBO Max will be available directly via hbomax.com, as well as through Sky and Prime Video. The service will support all major devices, including smart TVs, streaming boxes, game consoles, mobiles and tablets, with personalised profiles, parental controls, tailored recommendations and offline downloads depending on plan level.

what about AEW tv shows? they’re on Max in the US. Will we get them on Max here?
Have they said whether Babylon 5 (plus Crusade and movies) will be part of it, as that’s not available for streaming in the UK?
But won’t get the recent theatrical movies as part of this deal unless those with sky cinema do
HBO Max Basic with ads will be included with NOW – will NOW Boost get rid of these ads?
Ooh, interesting question! I suspect not. Since it’s likely to be its own app, you’d need to pay extra for the upgraded subscription to remove HBO Max ads.
