‘The Boys’ Season 5 Trailer Teases Brutal Endgame As Prime Video Sets Final Season For April

by Dave Elliott

Prime Video has released the explosive first trailer for The Boys, giving fans a glimpse at the fifth and final season of the ultra-violent superhero satire as it heads toward its endgame this April. The trailer sets up a brutal final clash between Homelander and Billy Butcher, with the fate of every Supe hanging in the balance.

As the series reaches its final chapter, the world appears firmly under Homelander’s control. The increasingly unstable leader of The Seven is positioning himself for what he calls a greater destiny, while those who oppose him are scattered, imprisoned, or in hiding.

The trailer reveals that Antony Starr (Banshee)’s Homelander is hunting down the original form of Compound V, known as V1, which could potentially grant him immortality. At the same time, he brings back a dangerous ally by thawing out Soldier Boy, played by Jensen Ackles (Supernatural), preparing the country for what he describes as his “ascension.”

Meanwhile, The Boys are in a dire position. Hughie, played by Jack Quaid (Star Trek: Lower Decks), Mother’s Milk, played by Laz Alonso (Avatar), and Frenchie, played by Tomer Capone (Fauda), find themselves locked in a so-called “Freedom Camp.” Annie January, played by Erin Moriarty (Jessica Jones), attempts to mount a resistance against the growing Supe power structure, while Kimiko, played by Karen Fukuhara (Suicide Squad), is mysteriously missing.

Then there is Billy Butcher. Karl Urban (The Lord of the Rings) returns with a devastating plan that could end the Supe problem once and for all. Armed with a virus capable of wiping out every Supe on the planet, Butcher’s drastic move threatens to reshape the world and force everyone to choose a side.

The final season also arrives as the wider universe continues to expand. College-set spin-off ‘Gen V’ recently wrapped its second season, helping set the stage for the final chapter of ‘The Boys’. Additional projects are also in development, including prequel series ‘Vought Rising’ and international spin-off ‘The Boys: Mexico’.

But first, the original series will bring its bloody, chaotic story to a close in what looks set to be one last all-out war between Supes and the humans who refuse to bow to them.

The Boys’ Season 5 premieres Wednesday, 8th April 2026 on Prime Video.
