Netflix isn’t done with late-night emergency calls just yet. ‘The Night Agent‘ is officially returning for a fourth season, with Gabriel Basso (Super 8) set to reprise his role as determined government operative Peter Sutherland.
The renewal comes after the high-stakes events of the third season, which saw Peter globe-trotting across multiple countries while investigating stolen financial intelligence and unraveling an international conspiracy. With the story leaving his future somewhat open, Netflix has confirmed that the agent’s next mission is already being lined up.
Series creator and showrunner Shawn Ryan shared his excitement about continuing the story, saying:
“It’s been a wild ride filming The Night Agent in five countries across three continents … and we’re so thrilled that the adventures of Peter Sutherland will continue into Season 4. Our writers, our cast, and our crew stand ready to answer the call to bring our incredible fans even more twists, turns, and thrills.”
Season 3 wrapped up with Peter telling his boss, Agent Aiden Mosley, that he planned to finally take some time off after everything he had been through. However, Mosley hinted that a new opportunity could be waiting once he returns, teasing the possibility of a partner for the Night Action operative. According to Ryan, that moment was deliberately designed to launch the story into the next chapter.
The political action thriller has remained one of Netflix’s biggest global hits since it launched. The first season landed on the platform’s Most Popular list, while Season 2 debuted at number one with 13.9 million views in its first four days. Season 3 continued the momentum, reaching number two on the English-language TV chart and driving renewed interest in earlier seasons.
Production on the fourth season is expected to take place in Los Angeles, joining a growing number of Netflix projects filming in the city, including upcoming seasons of ‘Nobody Wants This’, ‘Running Point’, ‘BEEF’, and ‘Monster’, along with the fourth season of ‘The Lincoln Lawyer’.
