‘The Devil’s Hour’ Coming To ITVX This April As ITV Acquires First Season Of Hit Thriller

ITV has picked up the first season of ‘The Devil’s Hour’, the acclaimed psychological thriller starring Jessica Raine (Patrick Melrose, Call the Midwife) and Peter Capaldi (Doctor Who, The Thick of It), which will arrive on ITVX this April.

The six-part drama was originally produced for Prime Video by Hartswood Films, the company behind Sherlock and Dracula, and comes from writer and creator Tom Moran. The series is executive produced by Steven Moffat and Sue Vertue.

‘The Devil’s Hour’ follows Lucy (Raine), a woman who wakes every night at exactly 3:33am, the time often referred to as the “devil’s hour”. Plagued by disturbing visions and unexplained events in her life, Lucy soon discovers her name has become linked to a string of brutal murders. As the investigation deepens, the answers she has been searching for her entire life begin to emerge in unsettling ways.

Alongside Raine, the drama stars Capaldi as Gideon, a mysterious and reclusive wanderer whose unsettling connection to Lucy and the murders forms the heart of the story.

While the setup might initially suggest a straightforward psychological thriller, ‘The Devil’s Hour’ quickly proves there’s far more going on beneath the surface. The series has a habit of lulling viewers into thinking they understand the rules of the story before taking a sharp and very unexpected turn, revealing something much stranger and more ambitious at its core.

It’s one of those shows that rewards sticking with it, and if you’ve only seen the first season when it originally landed on Prime Video, the follow-up season is well worth checking out too, expanding the mythology in some intriguing directions.

The acquisition adds another high-profile drama to ITVX’s growing library as the broadcaster continues to build its streaming catalogue with premium scripted series.

‘The Devil’s Hour’ originally launched on Prime Video in 2022 and quickly built a following thanks to its twisting narrative and unsettling mystery. The show has since expanded beyond its initial run, with a second season already released on Prime Video and a third season expected later this year.
