The BBC has released the trailer for ‘Beyond Paradise‘ Series 4, confirming that the hit spin-off will be back on screens this March on BBC iPlayer and BBC One.
Returning to Shipton Abbott for the new run are Kris Marshall (Death in Paradise) as DI Humphrey Goodman and Sally Bretton (Not Going Out) as Martha, alongside Zahra Ahmadi (The Bay) as DS Esther Williams, Dylan Llewellyn (Derry Girls) as PC Kelby Hartford, Barbara Flynn (Cranford) as Anne Lloyd and Felicity Montagu (I’m Alan Partridge) as Margo Martins.
The new series promises another run of quirky mysteries where fact and folklore collide. This time, Humphrey and the team will tackle the death of a novelist who appeared to predict their own fate, a night of Dark Morris that goes badly wrong, a stolen treasure map that mysteriously reappears, and reports of a vengeful mermaid spotted out at sea.
Away from the cases, Humphrey and Martha are settling into married life and trying to find a new home, but things are not exactly calm on the personal front either. The BBC teases that Humphrey will face an impossible decision that could have major consequences for everyone at the station.
Series 4 also brings back a strong supporting and guest cast, including Jamie Bamber (Battlestar Galactica) as Archie Hughes, Melina Sinadinou (The Sandman) as Zoe Williams, Eva Feiler (Cuffs) as Lucy Thompson and Phil Daniels (EastEnders) as Marvelous Harris. Previously announced guest stars for the new run include Susan George (Straw Dogs), Colin McFarlane (The War Between the Land and the Sea), Michael Cochrane (The Archers), Melanie Walters (Gavin & Stacey), Vincent Franklin (The War Between the Land and the Sea), Alex Macqueen (The Inbetweeners), Tristan Sturrock (Poldark), Andrea Lowe (Sherwood), Rachel Cassidy (Downton Abbey), Emily Stott (Foundation), Rina Mahoney (Happy Valley), Susan Penhaligon (A Fine Romance), James Clay (MobLand), Kenneth Collard (Cuckoo) and Narinda Samra (Ackley Bridge).
The wider franchise remains in very good health too, with ‘Death in Paradise’ continuing its long run and ‘Return to Paradise’ helping expand the sunny murder universe even further. For ‘Beyond Paradise’, though, it looks like Series 4 is about to throw Humphrey into one of his trickiest chapters yet.
