Sky Unveils New Acquired Slate Including ‘Heated Rivalry’ S2, ‘YAGA’, ‘Superfakes’, ‘The ‘Burbs’ & ‘PONIES’

Sky has unveiled a fresh batch of premium acquired drama and comedy, adding even more heavyweight titles to its growing 2026 line-up.

Leading the new announcements is ‘Heated Rivalry’, which Sky has confirmed will return for a second season in 2027 following the buzz around its first run earlier this year. Alongside that, Sky has also picked up ‘YAGA’, a new mystery thriller starring Carrie-Anne Moss (The Matrix), Clark Backo (Letterkenny), Noah Reid (Schitt’s Creek) and Hudson Williams (Heated Rivalry), which is set to arrive later this year.

Also joining the line-up is ‘Superfakes’, a new A24 crime drama from Emmy-winning creator Alice Ju, with Lucy Liu (Rosemead, Presence) starring and executive producing alongside Ken Leung (Lost, Industry). Then there is ‘The ‘Burbs’, a new spin on the 1989 horror-comedy starring Keke Palmer (Nope) and Jack Whitehall (Jungle Cruise), plus Cold War spy thriller ‘PONIES’, led by Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones, Me Before You) and Haley Lu Richardson (The White Lotus).

It is a pretty eye-catching mix, and exactly the sort of acquisitions slate Sky loves to build around. You have got romance, thriller, comedy, horror, espionage and crime all jammed into one announcement, which should give Sky and NOW subscribers plenty to keep an eye on across the rest of the year and beyond.

Of the newly announced shows, ‘Heated Rivalry’ probably arrives with the most built-in momentum, after season one quickly built a passionate fanbase. Based on Rachel Reid’s Game Changers novels, the series follows hockey stars Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov as a rivalry turns into a long, complicated relationship that stretches across years on and off the ice.

Meanwhile, ‘YAGA’ looks like it could be one of the more intriguing genre plays in the bunch. The contemporary mystery thriller reimagines the Baba Yaga myth in a small coastal town, with a private investigator pulled into a case involving a missing heir, strange suspects, secret lives and ancient magic. With Rachel Talalay among the directors, that one definitely has my attention.

‘Superfakes’ sounds equally promising, with a premise centred on a Chinatown luxury counterfeit dealer who gets pulled deeper into a dangerous criminal underworld while trying to build a respectable suburban life for her family. Between A24, Alice Ju and Lucy Liu, that is a very strong creative package.

Then there is ‘The ‘Burbs’, which takes inspiration from Joe Dante’s 1989 cult horror-comedy and shifts things into a present-day suburban setting. This version follows Samira and Rob Fisher as they move back to Rob’s childhood home, only for the quiet cul-de-sac to start giving off increasingly sinister vibes. Given the cast and the mix of comedy, mystery and horror, it could be a fun one.

Finally, ‘PONIES’ heads into espionage territory, with Emilia Clarke and Haley Lu Richardson playing two embassy secretaries in Moscow whose lives are turned upside down after their husbands are killed, pushing them into the world of CIA operations. Cold War spy drama with that cast is not exactly a hard sell.

These shows join an already stacked list of titles coming to Sky and NOW, including ‘The Miniature Wife’, ‘Euphoria’ season 3, ‘House of the Dragon’ season 3, ‘Fightland’, ‘Crystal Lake’ and ‘The Good Daughter’.
