Jon Bernthal’s ‘Punisher’ Special ‘One Last Kill’ Lands May Debut on Disney+

Marvel is keeping the street-level momentum going, as The Punisher: One Last Kill is set to arrive on Disney+ this May, bringing Jon Bernthal (The Walking Dead, The Bear) back to the role of Frank Castle for a standalone Special Presentation.

The new special lands just a week after the end of ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Season 2, giving Marvel fans a pretty seamless handover from Matt Murdock’s latest chapter into Frank Castle’s next outing. It also marks Bernthal’s latest return to the character after first debuting as Castle in Season 2 of Netflix’s ‘Daredevil’ back in 2016, before going on to lead two seasons of ‘The Punisher’.

Marvel has confirmed the title of the special as ‘The Punisher: One Last Kill’, with the project following the same Special Presentation format used for ‘Werewolf by Night’ and ‘The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special’. That suggests something shorter and more focused than a full series, but still a significant part of Marvel’s current small-screen slate.

There is also some strong creative talent behind it. Bernthal co-wrote the special alongside Reinaldo Marcus Green, who also directs, which should make this feel a little more grounded and character-driven than a standard superhero side story.

In addition, Marvel is continuing to expand Frank Castle’s future beyond Disney+. Bernthal is set to return as the Punisher in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, meaning this won’t be the only time we see the character in the near future.

And there is more life in Hell’s Kitchen, too, as Daredevil: Born Again has already been renewed for Season 3. That makes ‘The Punisher: One Last Kill’ feel like part of a much bigger push for Marvel’s darker, street-level heroes, rather than just a nostalgic callback.

The Punisher: One Last Kill’ premieres Tuesday, 12th May 2026 on Disney+.
