‘Cape Fear’ Trailer Sees Javier Bardem’s Max Cady Return For Vengeance On Apple TV

by Dave Elliott

Apple TV has released the trailer for Cape Fear, a new psychological horror thriller limited series starring Amy Adams (Sharp Objects), Javier Bardem (Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story) and Patrick Wilson (Fargo), which premieres this June.

The 10-episode series comes from creator, showrunner and executive producer Nick Antosca (A Friend of the Family, Channel Zero), with Academy Award winners Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg also serving as executive producers. The project is inspired by both John D. MacDonald’s novel The Executioners, which led to the 1962 Gregory Peck film, and the 1991 remake directed by Scorsese and produced by Spielberg.

The story follows happily married attorneys Anna and Tom Bowden, played by Amy Adams and Patrick Wilson, whose lives are shattered when Max Cady, played by Javier Bardem, is released from prison. Cady is the notorious killer they were responsible for putting behind bars, and now he is back with vengeance very much on the agenda. So, probably not popping round for a polite legal consultation and a cup of tea, then…

The trailer teases a tense, ominous update of the classic thriller, with Bardem stepping into the role of Cady, previously made famous by Robert Mitchum in the 1962 film and Robert De Niro in Scorsese’s 1991 version. Joining Adams, Bardem and Wilson in the ensemble cast are Joe Anders (The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes), Lily Collias (Good One) and Malia Pyles (Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin), with CCH Pounder (NCIS: New Orleans), Jamie Hector (Bosch) and Anna Baryshnikov (Dickinson) in supporting roles.

Behind the camera, ‘Cape Fear’ hails from UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group, and Amblin Television. Nick Antosca showruns and executive produces alongside Alex Hedlund for Eat the Cat, while Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey produce alongside Steven Spielberg for Amblin Television. Morten Tyldum (The Imitation Game) directs the pilot and also serves as executive producer.

Cape Fear premieres Friday, 5th June 2026 on Apple TV, launching with the first two episodes, followed by new episodes every Friday through to Friday, 31st July 2026.
