Prime Video has ordered ‘Escorted’, a new romantic comedy series starring, written by, and executive produced by Brett Goldstein (Shrinking, Ted Lasso).
The eight-episode, half-hour single-camera comedy comes from Warner Bros. Television, with Goldstein co-showrunning alongside Brian Gallivan (Shrinking, Happy Endings). The series will premiere exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.
In ‘Escorted’, a divorced dad in Manhattan accidentally becomes a male escort in a romantic comedy about sexual dynamics, keeping secrets, and whether real intimacy can ever be bought. So, you know, just your average cosy family sitcom premise…
“I’m so excited to bring a wholesome show about condoms, co-parenting, and cosplay to Amazon – the place where I actually buy my condoms, so it feels like a real full circle moment,” said Goldstein.
Goldstein is, of course, best known to many as the magnificently sweary Roy Kent in Ted Lasso, a role which won him two Emmys. He has also continued to prove himself as a writer, producer and performer on shows including Shrinking, where he serves as co-creator, writer and executive producer, as well as appearing on screen.
“Brett shines in every project he’s a part of, whether he is behind the camera or on the screen,” said Channing Dungey, Chairman and CEO, Warner Bros. Television Group and WBD US Networks. “We’re excited to see him reteam with the incredibly talented Brian Gallivan – a comedy force in his own right – on this exciting new series. Together, Brett and Brian deliver a hilarious, modern take on relationships, grounded in a heartfelt story about a single dad navigating love, parenting, and life. Special thanks to our partners at Prime Video for helping bring this series to life.”
“What makes Escorted so compelling is that beneath all of the chaos, comedy, and secrecy is an unexpectedly tender story about people searching for connection,” added Peter Friedlander. “Brett Goldstein and Brian Gallivan have crafted a series that feels daring, emotionally authentic, and entirely original, and we’re thrilled to bring it to Prime Video audiences worldwide. We’re grateful to Brett, Brian, and our fantastic partners at Warner Bros. Television for bringing this singular series to life.”
Alongside Goldstein and Gallivan, Cooper Wehde and Josh Senior (The Bear) executive produce, along with Molly Mandel. The series is produced by Warner Bros. Television.
‘Escorted’ does not yet have a premiere date but will air on Prime Video. If you want to keep track of this or any other shows, you can add them via our Never Miss system, and you’ll be notified when it gets a UK premiere date. Visit Never Miss.
