Netflix has released the teaser trailer and new images for the fifth and final season of ‘Outer Banks’, as the Pogues prepare to head out on one last adventure this August.
The final season picks up after the devastating events of the Season 4 finale, which saw the crew pushed to breaking point following the tragic loss of JJ (Rudy Pankow). Stranded far from home, grieving the heart of their group, and having lost the Blue Crown, the Pogues find themselves facing danger from all sides.
Chandler Groff (J. Anthony Crane) is still at large, Dalia (Pollyanna McIntosh) and the Corsairs are closing in, and the Kooks are doing everything they can to make sure the Pogues have no home to return to. That leaves John B (Chase Stokes), Sarah (Madelyn Cline), Kiara (Madison Bailey), Pope (Jonathan Daviss) and Cleo (Carlacia Grant) relying on their instincts, their bond, and an uneasy alliance with Rafe (Drew Starkey) to survive.
The teaser promises plenty of the chaos, danger, treasure-hunting and reckless Pogue energy fans have come to expect, with the group out for revenge and fighting to reclaim the future they have been chasing since the beginning. As the trailer puts it: “If you’re on the bottom, you have to risk everything.”
“We are over the moon to be setting out on one last trip with the Pogues,” creators Josh Pate, Jonas Pate, and Shannon Burke previously told Tudum. “Being back on set with our cast for this final round is nothing short of bittersweet and surreal. We can’t wait to show everyone what we have in store this season — it’s going to be a wild ride…”
Across its first four seasons, ‘Outer Banks’ has pulled in nearly 200 million views and appeared on Netflix’s Top 10 English TV list 25 times. The creators have also said the Season 4 finale, the show’s first feature-length episode, “sets the stage for an epic fifth and final season.”
Returning series regulars include Chase Stokes, Madelyn Cline, Madison Bailey, Jonathan Daviss, Drew Starkey, Carlacia Grant, Austin North and Fiona Palomo. J. Anthony Crane and Cullen Moss are also back for Season 5, and have been promoted to series regulars.
The creators have previously said they always had a five-season journey in mind for ‘Outer Banks’, telling fans that the story grew from an image of teenagers on a beach at dusk during a power outage. “From this beginning, we imagined a mystery that would lead to a five-season journey of adventure, treasure hunting, and friendship.”
Now, that journey is heading towards its final frame, as the Pogues take on the world one last time.
