Sky Witness has picked up ‘CIA’, the latest drama from Dick Wolf’s ever-expanding procedural empire, which sees Tom Ellis (Lucifer) and Nick Gehlfuss (Chicago Med) teaming up for some FBI/CIA spy action in New York.
The series follows by-the-book FBI Special Agent Bill Goodman, played by Nick Gehlfuss, who is loaned out to a clandestine CIA/FBI task force. There, he is partnered with secretive and roguish CIA agent Colin Glass, played by Tom Ellis. Together, they work covert operations across New York, uncovering international plots, terrorist cells, geopolitical secrets, and the sort of hidden agendas that tend not to show up in the official paperwork.
As Colin pulls Bill deeper into the murky world of espionage, the FBI man has to learn the rules on the fly. It is a world where the job is supposed to keep America safe, even if no one ever finds out what was done in the shadows. So, you know, a very normal workplace induction.
Alongside Ellis and Gehlfuss, ‘CIA’ also stars Necar Zadegan (The Old Man) and Natalee Linez (Tell Me Lies).
The drama comes from Wolf Entertainment, the people behind the ‘FBI’ franchise, and is produced by Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group, in association with Wolf Entertainment and CBS Studios.
The show has already done well enough in the USA for CBS to hand it a second-season renewal, with the network saying the premiere pulled in more than 8 million multiplatform viewers within its first seven days. That is not a bad start for a show that, on paper, sounds like someone looked at ‘FBI’ and thought, “Fine, but what if Tom Ellis was allowed to cause problems?”
We did say when the series was originally announced that we would be very surprised if it didn’t land on Sky Witness in the UK, given the channel’s long relationship with the wider Wolf procedural universe. And, well, here we are. Occasionally, these guesses work out.
‘CIA’ Season 1 is currently pencilled in to premiere in July 2026 on Sky Witness in the UK, although as that is still an early date, it could move. If I want to keep track of this or any other shows, I can add them via our Never Miss system, and I’ll be notified when it gets a UK premiere date. Visit Never Miss.
