Apple TV has released the trailer for season six of ‘Slow Horses‘, and there is one particularly welcome face heading back to Slough House. Olivia Cooke (House of the Dragon) returns as Sidonie “Sid” Baker when the hit spy drama makes its return this September.
The new six-episode season once again stars Sir Gary Oldman (Darkest Hour) as the magnificently cantankerous Jackson Lamb, but this time his dysfunctional collection of MI5 rejects find themselves on the run. Diana Taverner pulls the Slow Horses into a deadly game of retaliation and revenge, which is probably not going to do much to improve Lamb’s already questionable mood.
Season six of ‘Slow Horses’ adapts Joe Country and Slough House, the sixth and seventh novels in Mick Herron’s acclaimed Slough House book series. The season is adapted for television by Gaby Chiappe, with Adam Randall returning to direct.
Alongside Oldman and Cooke, the returning ensemble includes Kristin Scott Thomas (The English Patient), Jack Lowden (Dunkirk), Aimee-Ffion Edwards (Peaky Blinders), Jonathan Pryce (The Crown) and Hugo Weaving (The Matrix). They are joined this season by new addition Lenny Rush (Am I Being Unreasonable?).
Cooke’s return as Sid is likely to be one of the biggest talking points for fans. The character was a major part of the opening season before disappearing from the day-to-day activities of Slough House, so seeing her pulled back into Lamb’s orbit should add another interesting complication to an already rather combustible group.
The espionage drama has become one of Apple TV’s most acclaimed series, with all five previous seasons achieving Certified Fresh ratings on Rotten Tomatoes. Season five also picked up nine Primetime Emmy Award nominations, including Outstanding Drama Series, alongside acting nominations for Oldman and Lowden.
