ITV has confirmed that ‘Trigger Point’ will return for its fourth series at the end of August, with Vicky McClure (Line of Duty) back as fearless but troubled bomb disposal officer Lana Washington.
The six-part new series will see Lana confront what ITV describes as her “greatest challenge yet”, as she and the Metropolitan Police bomb disposal team continue their dangerous mission to protect London from explosive devices and terrorist threats.
The date announcement follows the release of a new batch of first-look images and an extended 60-second trailer for ‘Trigger Point’, which gives viewers a suitably tense glimpse at the latest threats facing Lana and the team. Expect frantic evacuations, complicated devices and plenty of opportunities to shout at the television while wondering why anyone would willingly choose this as a career.
The new images show Lana back in action alongside fellow EXPO officers Danny, played by Eric Shango (Suspicion), and Hass, played by Nabil Elouahabi (The Tower).
They also offer another look inside police headquarters, featuring DS Helen Morgan, played by Natalie Simpson (Outlander), and DCI Batra, played by Maanuv Thiara (The Split). Julie Graham (Shetland) joins the fourth series as guest star Commander Nia Quentin.
The return follows another strong performance for ‘Trigger Point’. According to ITV, the first three series have accumulated 91 million streams and reached more than 20 million viewers across ITV and ITVX.
The third series was ITV’s fifth most-watched drama of 2025 and ranked seventh among dramas across all UK channels and streaming services. It averaged seven million viewers, with its opening episode attracting 7.4 million.
Series 4 was commissioned by ITV Director of Drama Polly Hill.
“I’m delighted that this thrilling series is returning for a fourth series. I know audiences will be once again on the edge of their seat as Lana and the team take us on another thrilling ride to keep the capital safe,” commented Hill.
“I love working with the team, we have a great time making the show and I cannot wait to continue Lana’s journey on Trigger Point,” added McClure.
The new series is written by Chris Brandon (Bloodlands) and directed by Jennie Darnell (Payback, Line of Duty) and Nirpal Bhogal (DI Ray, Grace). Kristian Dench (The Capture, Red Eye) serves as series producer, with Kingsley Hoskins (The Road Trip, The Flatshare) producing one of the production blocks.
Executive producers are Jed Mercurio (Line of Duty, Breathtaking), Daniel Walker (Boat Story, The Tourist), Jessica Sharkey (How To Get To Heaven From Belfast, Smoggie Queens), Chris Brandon and Vicky McClure.
HTM Television produces ‘Trigger Point’ in association with All3Media International, which distributes the drama internationally. Series 1 to 3 are available to stream now on ITVX.
