Prime Video has confirmed its Catherine Zeta-Jones-led revenge thriller ‘Kill Jackie‘ will arrive this October, releasing some suitably stylish new teaser art alongside the launch news. Better still for anyone who hates being left hanging, all eight episodes will drop at once in the UK and Ireland.
Catherine Zeta-Jones (Chicago, Wednesday) stars as Jackie Price, a woman who has spent the last 20 years enjoying a rather comfortable life travelling the world, selling fine art and, most importantly, staying anonymous. That last bit is particularly important given her previous career as an international drug smuggler.
Unfortunately, Jackie’s carefully constructed new life begins to fall apart when she discovers The Seven Demons, a squad of extremely dangerous hitmen, have been hired to kill her. Assuming someone from her past wants her dead, Jackie decides the best defence is a very aggressive offence, dusting off her old instincts and setting out to eliminate the assassins one by one before they can get to her.
Of course, things are not quite that simple. As Jackie begins hunting The Demons, she discovers that some of the secrets she has buried may be considerably more dangerous than the killers chasing her, and could lead much closer to home than she expected.
Joining Zeta-Jones is an impressively stacked supporting cast including Daniel Ings (A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, The Gentlemen), Sidse Babett Knudsen (Prime Target, Borgen), Óscar Jaenada (Rambo V, Cantinflas), Hattie Hook (Of An Age, Ten Pound Poms), Darci Shaw (A Thousand Blows, This City is Ours), Raff Law (Masters of the Air, Triton), Enzo Cilenti (Black Mirror, The Crown), Christine Adams (Hijack, Malice) and Julian Rhind-Tutt (Britannia, Napoleon).
The cast also features Karlis Arnolds Avots (Soviet Jeans, Lovable), Set Sjöstrand (The Wheel of Time, Valhalla), Tadashi Ito (Society of the Snow, The Platform 2), Sebastian Armesto (Gangs of London, A Small Light), Julian Barratt (The Mighty Boosh, The Great), Gavin Spokes (House of the Dragon, Slow Horses), Jonathan Cake (And Just Like That, Camping), Bamshad Abedi-Amin (A Town Called Malice, The Last Kingdom), Bill Paterson (Fleabag, Criminal Justice) and Ron Perlman (Hellboy).
‘Kill Jackie’ is based on the acclaimed novel The Price You Pay by Nick Harkaway, writing under the name Aidan Truhen, and comes from some of the creative team behind Killing Eve and Gangs of London. The eight-part thriller is co-produced by Fremantle and Steel Springs Pictures and was co-created by Conor Keane, Tom Butterworth, Peter Lawson and Damon Thomas.
Tom Butterworth serves as writer and showrunner, with Damon Thomas as lead director. Catherine Zeta-Jones also executive produces alongside Peter Lawson, Jose Agustin Valdes, Butterworth, Thomas, Rebecca Dundon, Dante Di Loreto and Jeffrey Levine.
It certainly sounds like Prime Video has given Zeta-Jones something enjoyably vicious to sink her teeth into here. International assassins, a former drug smuggler forced back into action, buried secrets and Ron Perlman lurking somewhere in the cast is a fairly compelling combination.
