Sylvester Stallone has spent three seasons turning Dwight Manfredi’s exile into a business opportunity. Now Paramount+ has released the official trailer for ‘Tulsa King‘ Season 4, and it looks as though just about everyone wants a piece of what he has built. Corrupt politicians, dangerous new enemies and a devastating personal loss are all heading Dwight’s way when the series returns in October.
The trailer finds Dwight determined to hold his crew together while trying to make his empire legitimate. That might sound like a sensible next step for a man who has already fought his way to the top in Tulsa, but leaving his old methods behind is another matter. As the pressure mounts, the instincts he developed on the streets of New York come rushing back. Anyone expecting him to quietly hand over the keys has clearly missed the first three seasons.
It is a fitting problem for Dwight. After serving 25 years in prison, the New York mobster was sent to Oklahoma by the crime family he had remained loyal to. Instead of fading away, he put together a crew and made Tulsa his own. Season 4 appears ready to ask what happens when the man who built that empire tries to protect it without becoming the person he was before. Given the number of people lining up against him, he may not have much room to choose.
Paramount+ is keeping the details of Dwight’s personal loss under wraps, so the trailer raises more questions than it answers on that front. What is clear is that the threat goes beyond a rival trying to muscle in on his territory. Dwight will have to weigh loyalty to his crew against his ambitions for the future, while deciding how far he is willing to go when those closest to him are at risk. Going legit was never going to be as simple as changing the name on the paperwork.
Stallone is joined by returning cast members Martin Starr, Jay Will, Vincent Piazza, Annabella Sciorra, Chris Caldovino, McKenna Quigley Harrington, Frank Grillo, Mike “Cash Flo” Walden, James Russo, Kevin Pollak and Neal McDonough, along with Garrett Hedlund and Dana Delany. Gretchen Mol joins the series as a regular for the new season, adding another face to an already crowded field of allies, adversaries and people Dwight would probably be wise to keep an eye on.
Terence Winter serves as head writer and executive producer. Taylor Sheridan, Stallone, David C. Glasser, Ron Burkle, David Hutkin, Bob Yari, Thomas Kelly and Keith Cox are also executive producers. The series is produced by Paramount Television Studios and 101 Studios.
There is still time for a catch-up if you have fallen behind: the first three seasons are available on Paramount+. Whether Dwight can keep his empire, protect his people and make a legitimate future for himself is another question entirely. The new trailer suggests that, before he gets anywhere near that future, Tulsa’s king has a fight on his hands.
