Sky Witness & NOW Pick Up NBC Drama ‘Line Of Fire’, Starring Peter Krause

by Dave Elliott

Sky Witness and NOW have picked up NBC’s new family crime drama ‘Line Of Fire‘, bringing Peter Krause (‘9-1-1’) back to UK screens with another household where keeping everyone safe is considerably harder than it sounds.

The series follows the Hollingsworths, a family whose members work across the Secret Service, U.S. Marshals, Department of Justice and FBI. Between them, they have enough federal connections to make organising a family gathering feel like an interagency briefing. Unfortunately, all that expertise doesn’t mean their personal lives run smoothly.

As they investigate dangerous criminals and uncover conspiracies, the Hollingsworths must balance their responsibilities to the country with their loyalty to one another. Each has secrets, and professional boundaries can become rather inconvenient when the person caught in the middle of a case happens to share your surname.

Meet The Hollingsworths

Peter Krause plays Mike Hollingsworth, a veteran Secret Service agent, alongside Hope Davis (‘Your Honor’, ‘Succession’) as Jane Hollingsworth, a U.S. Marshal. Their complicated relationship sits at the heart of a family whose working lives are already tangled together.

Their children have also gone into federal law enforcement. Kat Cunning (‘The Deuce’) plays FBI agent Clare, while Tommy O’Brien (‘grown-ish’) plays Mike “Micah” Hollingsworth Jr., who has followed his father into the Secret Service. Taylor Bloom (‘American Horror Story’) plays Russ, an analyst at the Department of Justice. Charlie Barnett (‘Russian Doll’, ‘Chicago Fire’) also stars.

The setup gives ‘Line Of Fire’ room to move between different agencies while keeping the family at the centre. These people might be very good at protecting strangers, but looking after one another comes with considerably more emotional baggage.

The overarching thriller begins when the death of a U.S. Marshal exposes a dangerous conspiracy, drawing the family into the sights of a mysterious assassin. Suddenly, their collective experience protecting civilians and politicians becomes essential to their own survival. Solving the case means crossing professional boundaries, with their duty and personal loyalties threatening to pull them in different directions.

Peter Krause’s Primetime Run Continues

For fans of ‘9-1-1’, the acquisition also brings Krause’s next major television role following his departure as Captain Bobby Nash. He spent eight seasons as the reassuring presence at the heart of the 118, and now swaps the firehouse for the Secret Service. Different uniform, another demanding job, and still plenty of people depending on him.

It continues an impressive run of prominent television roles stretching back decades. Krause led Aaron Sorkin’s ‘Sports Night’ as Casey McCall before playing Nate Fisher in HBO’s ‘Six Feet Under’, a performance that earned him three Emmy nominations.

He subsequently starred in ‘Dirty Sexy Money’, played Adam Braverman across six seasons of ‘Parenthood’, and appeared opposite Mireille Enos (‘The Killing’) in ‘The Catch’, before beginning his long stint in ‘9-1-1’.

That is quite the CV, moving between comedy, prestige drama, family stories and network thrillers. ‘Line Of Fire’ brings several of those strands together, giving Krause another central family role with a substantial helping of danger attached.

The series comes from writer and executive producer Joshua Safran, whose previous work includes ‘Gossip Girl’ and ‘Quantico’. Jenna Bush Hager and Ben Spector also executive produce, with Rebecca Thomas directing and executive producing the pilot. Universal Television produces.

‘Line Of Fire‘ Season 1 will air on Sky Witness and stream on NOW in the UK. A UK premiere date is to be confirmed.
