Ghostbusters 3 Rumour Mill Starts Milling Again!
Is it that time of year again? Seems every year they’re talk of the Ghostbusters bustin (to make you feel good) again onto cinema screens. However, this did comes straight from the mouth of Dr. Raymond Stantz himself. To promote the new House of Blues in Boston, Dan Aykroyd was answering questions online for the Boston Globe when of course, the Ghostbusters question comes up.
[Comment From Tom] Dan, I’m extremely excited for the HOB to be back in its birth-city!! I will be attending many shows. On a side note, and I’m sure you get these questions a lot, so I apologize in advance… Ghostbusters 3? I’ve heard that the writers of the Office are currently penning a script? How is this coming along, and should we look forward to this movie seeing the light of day? Thanks Dan!
Dan Aykroyd: “Script is commenced early summer. Hope to be in production by late fall 2009.”
So, there you have it. Script is being written, with hopes of production… I’m sure we’ve been at this point with Dan’s Ghostbusters: Hell Bent/Ghostbusters Go To Hell script already…
However, Bill Murray (who was a bit of a stumbling block) has been saying he enjoyed his time getting back into Pete Venkman’s character during the voice work on Ghostbusters the Video Game, so they maybe able to tempt him back for one more evening’s ghostbusting… The interest in Ghostbusters the Video Game i think also helped prove there is an audience out there. Only time will tell!
Dave has over 20 years experience in the digital industry, and is founder and editor of Geektown. Obviously a huge geek himself, he can often be found in front of the latest tv show or movie, on various video games, or with his head in a comic book.
Do you think they’ll use the same characters if this is true? Surely, the original cast will have to be grandads, with their kids / grand kids taking over?
That would be quite a nice crossover.
Hopefully this time it will not just fizzle out! One of my first films I saw was the Original Ghostbusters! and even back then it was way ahead of its time visually! can’t wait to see what they can come up with!
