Sky Announce All Episodes Of Massive New Drama ‘Britannia’ Will Arrive In January 2018

by Dave Elliott

Sky Atlantic’s epic brand new drama Britannia will arrive in January the broadcaster has announced today. Not only that, all episodes will be available from Thursday, 18th January 2018 on demand.

Set in 43AD, when Britain was a country ruled by powerful Druids and warrior queens, Britannia follows the reluctant rise to power of Kerra (Kelly Reilly) the daughter of the King of the Cantii (Ian McDiarmid), and her arch-rival Queen Antedia (Zoe Wanamaker), who are forced to put their differences aside when the Romans invade Britannia.

Meanwhile, rogue Druid Divis (Nikolaj Lie Kaas), the only one who foresaw the Roman invasion, finds an unlikely ally in 12-year-old Cantii girl Cait (Eleanor Worthington-Cox) in his quest to defeat Rome. The Romans are led by General Aulus Plautius (David Morrissey), who is determined to succeed where Julius Caesar failed and conquer this mythical land at the far edge of the Roman Empire.

Additional cast includes Mackenzie Crook (‘Pirates of the Caribbean’), Annabel Scholey (‘Being Human’), Stanley Weber (‘Outlander’), Julian Rhind-Tutt (‘Rush’) and Hugo Speer (‘The Musketeers’, ‘The Full Monty’.)

If you’re looking for something to help fill the ‘Game Of Thrones’ sized hole in your life next year, ‘Britannia’ could be just what you’re after. Mystical Druids, epic Celt vs. Roman battles, some humour, David Morrissey as a Roman General, and Ian McDiarmid, aka ‘Star Wars’ Emperor Palpatine, as a Celtic King… What more could you want!

All episodes of ‘Britannia‘ will be available Thursday, 18 January 2018 exclusively on Sky Atlantic and TV streaming service NOW TV.
