‘Midnight, Texas’ Gets Season 2 Renewal With New Showrunners & Cast Changes

Supernatural drama Midnight, Texas has been given a 2nd Season by it’s US network overlords NBC, however, there will be a few changes in front and behind the camera.

Monica Owusu-Breen (‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’, ‘Revolution’, ‘Fringe’) who was the showrunner for Season 1 and wrote the pilot is moving on. She will be replaced by Eric Charmelo and Nicole Snyder (‘Supernatural’, ‘Ringer’) who served as consulting producers on the 1st season.

On screen, Sarah Ramos, who played Creek Lovell, the waitress and love interest to lead character Manfred Bernardo (François Arnaud) will not be back as a series regular. Yul Vazquez who portrayed Reverend Emilio Sheehan has also been removed as a series regular. However, the production is hopeful both will return as guest stars, so they might not be gone entirely.

Based on the book series from ‘True Blood’ author Charlaine Harris, ‘Midnight, Texas’ is set in a remote Texas town where no one is who they seem. From vampires and witches to psychics and hit men, Midnight is a mysterious safe haven for those who are different. As the town members fight off outside pressures from rowdy biker gangs, ever-suspicious cops and their own dangerous pasts, they band together and form a strong and unlikely family.

“I am stoked at the prospect of a second season of Midnight, Texas,” commented Harris on the renewal. “I can’t wait to revisit my favourite town to discover what its inhabitants have been up to the past few months. Now the viewers, who’ve been asking me questions daily, will have their reward.”

Other cast includes Dylan Bruce (‘Orphan Black’), Parisa Fitz-Henley (‘Luke Cage’), Arielle Kebbel (‘Ballers’), Jason Lewis (‘Sex and the City’) and Peter Mensah (‘True Blood’), who we interviewed about the launch of the show last year.

Midnight, Texas airs on Syfy UK this side of the Atlantic. As it’s only just been renewed, no news on when the 2nd Season will land yet, but we will keep you updated.
