Lucy Davis Lands Role As Aunt Hilda On Netflix’s Sabrina Series

It would appear the casting director for Netflix’s Sabrina The Teenage Witch series is a fan of British acting talent! Hot on the news that Michelle Gomez and Chance Perdomo had landed parts on the show, now they’ve cast Lucy Davis as Aunt Hilda.

Based on the ‘Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina’ comic book, the as-yet-untitled reboot is a dark coming-of-age tale traffics in horror, the occult and, of course, witchcraft. It’s more in the vein of ‘Rosemary’s Baby’ or ‘The Exorcist’ than the lighthearted Melissa Joan Hart version of the 90’s. Sabrina must wrestle to reconcile her dual nature as a half-witch, half-mortal while fighting the evil forces that threaten her and her family.

Davis is set to play Hilda Spellman, the most nurturing of Sabrina’s two aunts. More approachable than her sister Zelda, Hilda has a motherly nature and warm sense of humour, but also a wicked, ghoulish streak. Being a witch, like the other Spellman women, she is capable of brewing up spite jars against her family’s enemies along with concocting love potions for the students at Baxter High!

Davis recently starred as Etta in the ‘Wonder Woman’ movie, but is probably best know in the UK for playing Dawn in the original version of ‘The Office’.

She will join will join Kiernan Shipka (‘Feud: Bette and Joan’, ‘Mad Men’) who landed the titular role as Sabrina; Jaz Sinclair (‘The Vampire Diaries’) who is playing Sabrina’s best friend Rosalind Walker; Chance Perdomo, who is playing Sabrina’s warlock cousin from England; And Michelle Gomez (‘Doctor Who’) who is set to play Mary Wardell, Sabrina’s favourite teacher… who unfortunately becomes possessed by the devil’s handmaiden, Madam Satan!

No news on when the as-yet-untitled Sabrina The Teenage Witch series will land on Netflix, but we will bring you more as we get it.
