ITV Gets ‘Cold Feet’ Again With Season 9 Renewal

ITV is keeping its tootsies frosty once again, as the UK broadcaster orders a 9th Season of BAFTA-winning comedy-drama Cold Feet.

From acclaimed creator and writer Mike Bullen and award-winning producers Big Talk Productions, six further episodes of the Manchester-based series will begin shooting later, with the return of stars James Nesbitt, Hermione Norris, Robert Bathurst, Fay Ripley and John Thomson.

“We’re delighted to be returning to Manchester for more of Cold Feet,” commented ITV’s Head of Drama, Polly Hill. “The audience reaction to the last series was incredible with many saying it’s getting better with age! We’re pleased to be working again with Mike Bullen whose moving, funny, complex and absorbing scripts are a joy to commission.”

At the end of series eight Jenny (Ripley) was dealing with her cancer treatment and with husband Pete (Thomson) by her side, preparing herself for the long road ahead; David (Bathurst) was putting his life back together with the support of his friends; while Karen (Norris) and Adam (Nesbitt) were figuring out the boundaries of their burgeoning relationship and the impact it had on the close-knit group.

Executive Producers for the series will be Kathryn O’Connor for production company Big Talk North alongside Big Talk CEO Kenton Allen and Managing Director Matthew Justice and writer Mike Bullen. The Producer is Jim Poyser.

“I think we were all overwhelmed by the amazing response to the latest series,” adds writer/creator Mike Bullen. “Jenny’s cancer, in particular, seemed to touch a nerve with viewers. There are still stories to tell for these characters but I’m conscious that we’ve raised the bar. The delight at being recommissioned has already been replaced by trepidation at the weight of expectation.”

The six-episode 9th Season of ‘Cold Feet‘ will shoot later this year in Manchester to air on ITV in 2020.
