BBC Renews ‘Silent Witness’ For Seasons 24 & 25

The BBC has renewed long-running crime drama Silent Witness for two more seasons – a 24th as well as the 25th Anniversary series.

The crime drama follows Dr Nikki Alexander (Emilia Fox) and her team of forensic pathologists as they delve in to solve various criminal cases. The cases that end up at the Lyell Centre are rarely straightforward. Initial suspicions are challenged as the evidence mounts, and Nikki and the team must work harder than ever to find the truth.

“Silent Witness entertains audiences from all generations and continues to be one of the UK’s most successful returning crime drama series,” commented Piers Wenger, Controller of BBC Drama “I’m thrilled it will continue to grip the nation in 2021, and can’t wait for viewers to see what is in store for its 25th Anniversary in 2022.”

The 23rd series of the hit drama came to an explosive conclusion on Wednesday night leaving audiences with a huge shock (which I won’t go into here, for those of you that haven’t caught up yet!) Series 23 has been hugely successful, with average audiences of over seven million per week and has been one of BBC iPlayer’s most-requested shows.

‘Silent Witness’ is a BBC Studios production for BBC One. BBC Studios handle global distribution. Further details of the new series will be announced in due course.

Silent Witness‘ Season 23, along with past seasons are available to catch-up on BBC iPlayer.
