Ian McElhinney & Steve Toussaint Land Guest Roles In ‘Doctor Who’ 2-Part Finale

The BBC has announced Ian McElhinney and Steve Toussaint will guest star in the epic two-part finale of ‘Doctor Who’ this season, which sees the Doctor comes face-to-face with one of her most dangerous and relentless enemies…

Part one is titled ‘Ascension of the Cybermen’, with part two given the intriguing name ‘The Timeless Children’. The two-part finale sees the Doctor and her friends face one of their biggest and most dangerous challenges yet, but will they be able to defeat one of the Doctor’s deadliest foes?

“I very much enjoyed my time on Doctor Who,” comments Ian McElhinney. “The team were a delight to work with and everyone was very supportive and welcoming. All in all, it was a blast.”

McElhinney, best known for his role to our audience as in Ser Barristan Selmy in ‘Game Of Thrones’, and Val-El in ‘Krypton’. He’s also popped up in ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’ as General Dodonna, along with appearing in ‘Derry Girls’ and ‘The Fall’.

“It was an honour to play a part in the giant of British (and world) TV that is Doctor Who,” adds Steve Toussaint. “What’s not to like? I had such a great time working with Jodie and ‘the Fam’; another one off the bucket list!”

Toussaint has starred in a multitude of films such as ‘Prince of Persia: The Sands Of Time’ and ‘Judge Dredd’, along with tv shows including ‘Lewis’, ‘Doctors’, ‘Our Girl’, ‘Line of Duty’ and ‘Silent Witness’. If your a gamer, you might also know his voice as he has worked on both ‘World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth’ and ‘Jurassic World Evolution’.

“We were delighted to have Ian and Steve on board the TARDIS for the drama-filled two-part finale,” said Matt Strevens, Executive Producer. “Their wide-ranging talent and versatility as actors help bring series 12 to a dramatic conclusion. They were an absolute joy to work with and we can’t wait for viewers to see them in action.”

I know Chris Chibnall initial season got a bit of a mixed response from fans, but he and the team have really found their footing this year. If you dropped away from the show last season, I urge you to jump back in again, as Season 12 has been really rather good!

Doctor Who‘ continues on BBC One on Sunday, 9th February 2020 at 7.10pm.
