Disney+ Confirms Over 600 Episodes Of ‘The Simpsons’ Will Come To The UK Streaming Service

It’s good news for fans of dysfunctional yellow animated families. Disney+ has announced over 600 episodes of The Simpsons will be available in the UK on the streaming service when it launches on 24th March 2020.

When the service was originally announced for the UK, it was unclear if we would be getting ‘The Simpsons’ back catalogue as they do in the USA. This was due to Sky holding the main licensing deal for the show over on this side of the pond. However, yesterday, Sky confirmed that Disney+ would be available as an app on their Sky Q box, whilst also commenting that animated series would be under a “co-exclusive” deal for the foreseeable future. That deal now means Disney+ subscribers will have access to over 600 episodes of ‘The Simpsons’ on demand.

Disney+ made the announcement on Twitter, tweeting out: “Over 600 episodes of The Simpsons + Disney + Pixar + Marvel + Star Wars + Nat Geo = D’oh not miss out!”

Regarding new episodes, it seems they will still premiere on Sky One, as they always have done in the UK. For those of you without Sky or Disney+, it seems Channel 4, who are home to ‘The Simpsons’ for normal non-subscription linear tv broadcast, will also continue on as normal. So basically, everything stays the same, but Disney+ subscribers will have on-demand access to the back catalogue too, which is an all-round win!

Along with the Disney+ being available on Sky Q at launch, you can also get the app via Apple & Android devices, Google Chromecast, Xbox One, PlayStation4, some LG (WebOS 3) and Samsung (Tizen) smart TVs, Roku, or directly online. It will also be coming to NOW TV boxes in the coming months.

Disney+ launches in the UK, Ireland, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Austria, and Switzerland on Tuesday, 24th March 2020, and will cost £5.99/€6.99 monthly or £59.99/€69.99 annually (although, if you sign up now for a year before it launches you can get a £10 discount).
