‘IMDb TV’: Amazon Launches Free Ad-Supported Streaming Service In UK From Today

In an announcement that seems to come out of nowhere, Amazon has quietly launched their ad-supported streaming service, IMDb TV, in the UK today!

Membership to Amazon Prime is not required, however, you do need to be logged in to an Amazon account to access it. They are saying in the coming weeks, it will come as a standalone app on Fire TV. As of right now, it is missing some of the IMDb TV Originals, most notably Leverage: Redemption, arguably their most anticipated Original Series… However, I am hearing some of the missing Originals are possibly making their way to the UK soon, so watch this space!

So what is on IMDb TV UK? The ad-supported streaming service launched with a line up of IMDb TV Originals including ‘Luke Bryan: My Dirt Road Diary’, ‘Moment of Truth’, and ‘Top Class: The Life’ and ‘Times of the Sierra Canyon Trailblazers’, as well as a library of movies and television show, including ‘Pulp Fiction’, ‘Anger Management’, ‘The English Patient’, ‘Person of Interest’, ‘Community’ and ‘2 Broke Girls’. It also seems to have the original ‘Babylon 5’ on there, for those of you getting nostalgic after the announcement that a remake was in the works.

“IMDb TV has created a free-to-consumer destination by combining a hybrid of exclusive Originals from Amazon Studios and highly sought-after movies and television,” said Lauren Anderson and Ryan Pirozzi, co-heads of content and programming, IMDb TV. “Today’s UK launch marks a major step in our mission to deliver customers widely appealing content and globally relevant storytelling, through a personalized, free streaming experience.”

More free content coming to the UK can only be a good thing, and whilst all the IMDb Originals are not on there (yet!), there are plenty of shows for you to browse through, and it’s not going to cost you anything, so worth taking a look!
