BBC Three Orders Gym Comedy From ‘People Just Do Nothing’ Team Alongside Other New Commissions

As BBC Three prepares for its return to linear broadcasting tomorrow, they have announces a string of new commissions for the channel, including a comedy from the team behind ‘People Just Do Nothing’, a factual drama based around warehouse workers, and a number of reality shows. Here is what to expect.

First up is ‘Peacock’, a new comedy from the team that brought you ‘People Just Do Nothing’. The series follows the story of Andy (Allan “Seapa” Mustafa), a personal trainer at Sportif Leisure in the midst of an identity crisis. His world is one of selfies, bravado and gym memberships, where vanity and success are often horribly entangled. When Andy loses out on a job promotion to a younger, better-looking PT, he suddenly realises he’s a man out of time. He needs to prove that there’s more to him than his good looks and his well-curated dating profile. He sets out to prove that he can be taken seriously. But can he?

The comedy comes from Kurupt FM collaborators, Steve Stamp and Ben Murray. On a side note… I do hope they change the title to this. Not that it isn’t appropriate, but having a comedy with the same name as a streaming service does make it somewhat confusing when you’re searching for it!

‘Life and Death in the Warehouse’ is a factual-based drama inspired by the real-world accounts of warehouse workers from many different companies in Britain and around the world. The series follows the fictional story of warehouse worker Alys, whose childhood friend Megan joins the same distribution centre as a trainee manager. In a desperate attempt to keep her new job Megan presses pregnant Alys to get her “pick rate” up putting Alys and her baby at risk.

From the BAFTA-winning team behind ‘Killed By My Debt’ and ‘Murdered by My Father’, ‘Life and Death in the Warehouse’ is an authentic exploration of working conditions in distribution centres, a world shrouded in secrecy where warehouse workers are subjected to a gruelling work regime and obsessive monitoring. Aimee-Ffion Edwards (‘Peaky Blinders’), Poppy Lee Friar (‘In My Skin’) and Craig Parkinson (‘Line of Duty’) star.

RuPaul’s Drag Race: UK Versus the World is pretty much what the title suggests! Nine international world-renowned Drag Race queens from Mama Ru’s global sisterhood will take to the world stage to battle it out for the crown. With the UK as host nation, the series will see iconic queens from different franchises and cultures competing in an international arena, showcasing their country’s finest drag in their bid to become the Queen of the World. The series begins Tuesday, 1st February 2022 at 9pm on BBC Three.

As Jeremy Clarkson gets into farming, it seems only fair that the farmers get into fast vehicle driving! ‘The Fast and the Farmer-ish’ provides a glimpse into the lives of young farmers, in an entertaining new competitive series that showcases tractor-driving talent. Presented by Tom Pemberton, each episode pits two teams of petrol heads and their ‘souped up’ tractors against each other in a series of entertaining and imaginative challenges that puts their driving skill and vehicle power to the test. Across the series, teams from Wales, England, Northern Ireland and Scotland will compete via heats, semis and a grand final, with the winner claiming overall bragging rights for their nation. The series premieres Wednesday, 9th February 2022 at 9pm on BBC Three.

‘Hungry For It’ gives 10 aspiring cooks from all over the UK, all desperate to carve out a career in the food industry, a chance to skill up and put their talent to the test, with one amateur cook winning a life-changing prize. The chefs will live together in a house, whilst competing and creating amazing dishes, in an attempt to impress industry experts and mentors. The series will be hosted by Stacey Dooley alongside two industry mentors who’ll be judging – chef and rapper, Big Zuu, and personal chef to the stars, Kayla Greer.

‘Gassed Up’ follows rapper Mist as he takes on some of the biggest “celebrity adrenaline challenges” the UK scene has to offer. Each episode will see him go head to head in a high octane challenge against a celebrity – supported by expert driver and Drift Queen Becky Evans and pro BMXer and prankster Ryan Taylor.

Mentored and judged by specialists from the scene, Mist and his guests will learn the tricks of the trade, equipping them to create and commandeer crazy vehicles, leading to an ultimate head to head track challenge.

‘Love In The Flesh’, hosted by Zara McDermott, is a series that focuses on real-life potential couples who have already formed relationships via dating apps and social media but who have never met each other in the real world. These online daters will be whisked away from the pressures of daily life and screens to explore whether their online relationships can turn into love in the flesh.

Having started their relationships through apps, stories and DMs, some couples will have been chatting for years whilst others have only been flirting for months or weeks. But does their online persona match their real-world self?

BBC Three returns to linear broadcast from Tuesday, 1st February 2022 at 7pm on Freeview and BT TV (23 SD & 109 HD), Sky Q (117 except for Scotland where it’s on 173), Sky Glass (118 except Wales where it’s on 119), Virgin (107 – BBC Four moves to 108) and Freesat (107/179). It will also, of course, still be on BBC iPlayer.
