Netflix has released a little teaser trailer for ‘FUBAR‘, a new action-comedy series which stars Arnold Schwarzenegger, from showrunner Nick Santora (‘Reacher’).
Starring in his first-ever series, Schwarzenegger plays a CIA Operative on the verge of retirement who discovers a family secret. Forced to go back into the field for one last job, the action-comedy tackles universal family dynamics set against a global backdrop of spies, action and humour.
“Everywhere I go, people ask me when I’m going to do another big action comedy like True Lies,” commented Schwarzenegger in a statement. “Well, here it is. Fubar will kick your ass and make you laugh – and not just for two hours. You get a whole season. It’s been a joy to work with Nick, Skydance, and Netflix to give my fans exactly what they’ve been waiting for.”
Alongside Schwarzenegger, the series stars Monica Barbaro (‘Top Gun: Maverick’, ‘Chicago Justice’), Milan Carter (‘Warped!’), Gabriel Luna (‘The Last Of Us’, ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’), Fortune Feimster (‘The L Word: Generation Q’, ‘Life in Pieces’), Travis Van Winkle (‘The Last Ship’, ‘YOU’), Fabiana Udenio (‘Austin Powers’), Barbara Eve Harris (‘Prison Break’, ‘Station 19’, ‘Sharp Objects’), Aparna Brielle (‘A.P. Bio’), Andy Buckley (‘The US Office’, ‘Avenue 5’), and Jay Baruchel (‘How to Train Your Dragon’, ‘The Moodys’).
The series has been created by Nick Santora, who also serves as Exec Producer and Showrunner. Santora is also behind Prime Video series ‘Reacher’, along with Quibi/Roku shows ‘The Fugitive’, and ‘Most Dangerous Game’. His next project, ‘Most Dangerous Game: New York‘, a sequel to the Quibi drama, which sees ‘The Umbrella Academy’ star David Castañeda face off against Christoph Waltz, is due to land on The Roku Channel in March 2023.
“Fubar is, by far, the most surreal project of my career,” commented Santora. “I grew up watching Arnold Schwarzenegger films — I’d hit my dad up for a few bucks so I could race to the movies and see the biggest star in the world on the big screen — so creating the first scripted television project for Arnold is unbelievably exciting for me. The thing I always marvelled at was how Schwarzenegger could be funny while still kicking ass … that’s why I wanted Fubar to be a hysterical, CIA-spy comedy mixed with heart-stopping action! And it is all that – and more. I’d love to elaborate with more details, but, sorry, it’s classified.”
Skydance produce the series. Schwarzenegger stars and also serves as Executive Producer, alongside Adam Higgs, Scott Sullivan, Holly Dale, and Bill Bost with Skydance’s David Ellison and Dana Goldberg.
