‘Deadpool 3’: Stefan Kapacic & Morena Baccarin Return As Colossus & Vanessa
Some old faces are returning to join Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman in ‘Deadpool 3’ as it’s announced Stefan Kapacic will be back as Colossus, along with Morena Baccarin as Vanessa Carlysle.
This will be the first movie in the franchise to be under the control of Marvel Studios, with MCU Overlord Kevin Feige, working alongside Reynolds. We don’t know much about the film at the moment, but we do know it’ll feature Jackman donning the claws of Wolverine once again, and Reynolds also announced Karan Soni would be returning as Dopinder, along with Leslie Uggams as Blind Al. Feige has confirmed it will be Marvel Studio’s first “R-rated” film and is not being toned down from the previous two movies.
Along with playing Colossus, Stefan Kapacic more recently appeared in ‘Better Call Saul’ as Casper, voices Nikolai in the ‘Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare’ video games, and can next be seen in the film ‘The Last Voyage of the Demeter’. Morena Baccarin, who is probably best known for her work on ‘Gotham’ and ‘Firefly’, recently starred in the NBC series ‘The Endgame’, and has a number of films upcoming including ‘Elevation’ alongside Anthony Mackie, and ‘Fast Charlie’ with Pierce Brosnan and James Caan.
As to the exact plot of ‘Deadpool 3’, we can really only speculate at this point… One possibility is that they use this as a way to “destroy” the old FOX X-Men universe, opening a path for the introduction of a new X-Men cast in the MCU. There is actually some comicbook precedence for this in the “Deadpool Killogy” series of books where an alt-version of Deadpool goes on a bloody rampage, murdering, not only the X-Men, but other Marvel characters, and even multiverse versions of himself. I stress this is pure speculation though, so we’ll have to see when a plot synopsis gets released.
Shawn Levy is set to direct, having previously worked with Reynolds on the films ‘The Adam Project’ and ‘Free Guy’, and Jackman on ‘Real Steel’. Paul Wernick & Rhett Reese, who wrote on the previous two films, return to pen the script, and are joined by screen and comicbook writer Zeb Wells (‘The Marvels’, ‘She-Hulk’). Levy, Feige and Reynolds are the producers.
‘Deadpool 3’ is set to arrive in cinemas on the 8th of November 2024.
