‘Rick and Morty’ Season 7 Premieres This October On E4 In The UK

UK broadcaster E4 has confirmed The Emmy Award-winning Adult Swim animated comedy series Rick and Morty Season 7 will premiere this October in the UK.

‘Rick and Morty’ follows a sociopathic genius scientist who drags his inherently timid grandson on insanely dangerous adventures across the universe. Rick Sanchez is living with his daughter Beth’s family and constantly bringing her, his son-in-law Jerry, granddaughter Summer and grandson Morty into intergalactic escapades.

“Rick and Morty are back and sounding more like themselves than ever!” says the press release. “It’s season seven, and the possibilities are endless: what’s up with Jerry? EVIL Summer?! And will they ever go back to the high school?! Maybe not! But let’s find out! There’s probably less piss than last season. “Rick and Morty,” 100 years! Or at least until season 10! But what sort of mischief will they get up to as they travel across the galaxy? What iconic new creatures will they discover? And will they end up in grave danger (Of course they will!)”

That opening line is a reference to the fact that the two lead characters may sound slightly different, after the firing of co-creator and voice of Rick and Morty, Justin Roiland, following allegations of problematic behaviour (should also be pointed out that criminal charges against Roiland were dismissed due to insufficient evidence earlier this year, however, he is not returning to the show.) Whereas on Rolland’s other show, ‘Solar Opposites’, they opted to completely change the voice of the character he played by hiring British actor Dan Stevens, with ‘Rick and Morty’, the duo will be voiced by “soundalikes”.

“We can’t wait to be taken on another laugh-out-loud ride across the universe with Rick and Morty and the rest of the Smith family, said Karl Warner, Head of Youth and Digital at Channel 4. “We’re playing the new series as close to its US broadcast as possible, knowing that young UK audiences will flock to our digital platforms to catch up or stream the chaos.”

‘Rick and Morty’ stars Sarah Chalke (‘Firefly Lane’), Chris Parnell (‘Saturday Night Live’), and Spencer Grammer (‘Greek’). The names of the “soundalikes” have not been revealed. The series was created by Dan Harmon (‘Community’) and Justin Roiland.

Rick and Morty‘ Season 7 premieres Monday, 16th October 2022 at some point early in the morning on E4 and on the Channel 4 streaming service, along with in over 134 countries in 38 languages around the world as part of a global premiere. The series premieres Sunday, Oct. 15 at 11:00 p.m. ET/PT on Adult Swim in the USA.
