Netflix has released a trailer for ‘Dead Boy Detectives‘, a new series based on Neil Gaiman’s comic book, and set in ‘The Sandman’ universe, from the people behind ‘Doom Patrol’ & ‘The Flight Attendant’s Steve Yockey.
Do you have a pesky ghost haunting you? Has a demon stolen your core memories? You may want to ring the Dead Boy Detectives. Meet Edwin Payne (George Rexstrew) and Charles Rowland (Jayden Revri), ‘the brains’ and ‘the brawn’ behind the Dead Boy Detectives agency. Teenagers born decades apart who find each other only in death, Edwin and Charles are best friends and ghosts… who solve mysteries. They will do anything to stick together – including escaping evil witches, Hell and Death herself. With the help of a clairvoyant named Crystal (Kassius Nelson) and her friend Niko (Yuyu Kitamura), they are able to crack some of the mortal realm’s most mystifying paranormal cases.
The series stars George Rexstrew and Jayden Revri (‘The Lodge’) as Edwin Payne and Charles Rowland, the titular detectives, with Kassius Nelson (‘Hollyoaks’, ‘White Lines’) as Crystal. The series also stars Briana Cuoco (‘Harley Quinn’, and sister of Kaley) as Jenny the Butcher, Ruth Connell (‘Supernatural’) as the Night Nurse, Yuyu Kitamura as Niko, and Jenn Lyon (‘Justified’, ‘Claws’) as Esther.
The show was originally set up on for the MAX streaming service in the US, however, they decided to sell it to Netflix instead. Given that it is connected to ‘The Sandman’, where the characters first appeared in the comicbooks, it probably makes more sense to be on Netflix anyway. ‘The Sandman‘ Season 2 is also on the way at the streamer.
The series comes from Emmy nominee Steve Yockey (“The Flight Attendant”), “Doom Patrol’s” Jeremy Carver, Berlanti Productions, and Warner Bros. Television. Yockey also serves as co-showrunner and executive producer alongside Beth Schwartz. Greg Berlanti, Jeremy Carver, Sarah Schechter, Leigh London Redman, and Gaiman also serve as executive producers of the series.
‘Dead Boy Detectives‘ does not yet have a premiere date, but will air on Netflix UK and worldwide. If you want to keep track of this or any other shows, you can add them via our Never Miss system, and you’ll be notified when they get a UK premiere date.
