The BBC has renewed two of its comedies, Juice and Such Brave Girls, for 2nd Seasons following a host of critical acclaim and awards nominations.

‘Juice’ is a surreal comedy that follows Jamma (Mawaan Rizwan) on his quest for attention as he navigates chaotic family dynamics and literally stumbles through love. Mum, Farida (Shahnaz Rizwan), always makes everything about her, Dad, Saif (Jeff Mirza), ignores him and brother, Isaac (Nabhaan Rizwan), steals the limelight at work – the one place Jamma feels like he’s doing well. And when he finally does get the validation from boyfriend Guy (Russell Tovey), he can’t handle it. When Jamma’s emotions peak the world physically transforms around him.

In the upcoming new series everything in Jamma’s life is telling him to grow up. But as he tries to get good at love, he’s haunted by family, friends and his former self.

The show is written and created by Mawaan Rizwan and won an RTS award for Comedy Drama.

“Juice is back baby! I can’t wait to dive back into a magical world with magical people once again,” commented Rizwan. “Shoutout to everyone who’s championed this beautiful bonkers show…. and everyone who hated on the bowl cut.”

‘Such Brave Girls’ explores life and love in all its ugly chaos. Josie (Kat Sadler), her sister Billie (Lizzie Davidson) and their mum, Deb (Louise Brealey) attempt to claw their way towards a better life. Armed only with an ability to see the line and boldly step over it, these very brave girls finally have a chance to explore themselves.

The show’s writer and creator Kat Sadler recently picked up a BAFTA Craft award for Emerging Talent, Fiction.

“it’s a sick pleasure that these horrible characters get to live another day and I’m now contractually obliged put them through hell again,” comments Sadler. “The BBC are masochists and I’m very grateful.”

‘Juice’ is a VAL production for BBC Three and BBC iPlayer and was commissioned by Jon Petrie, Director of BBC Comedy and Fiona Campbell, Controller, Youth Audience (BBC iPlayer and BBC Three). The producer is Maisah Thompson. The executive producers are Mawaan Rizwan, Phil Clarke, Hannah Moulder and Ali Carron for Various Artists Limited. The Commissioning Editor for the BBC is Tanya Qureshi. BBC Studios, who have a minority investment stake in Various Artists Limited, are handling international distribution.
