‘Good Omens’ Final “Season” Is Now A 90-Minute Movie As Neil Gaiman Exits

by Dave Elliott

Some good news/bad news… Good Omens will still be returning to our screens for a final outing, however, it has been switched from a full series to a 90-minute film instead. Creator Neil Gaiman is no longer involved.

The drama, which followed the ineffable friendship between Aziraphale (Michael Sheen), a fussy angel and rare-book dealer, and the fast-living demon Crowley (David Tennant), was originally renewed for a full third season back in 2023. However, earlier this year, creator Neil Gaiman had a number of allegations made against him by a host of women, forcing Amazon to pause pre-production while they evaluated what to do. Gaiman has denied the allegations and said he was “disturbed” by them, but ultimately offered to step down to allow production to continue.

Whilst Gaiman contributed to the writing on what was going to be the final season, he and his production company (Blank Corporation) are no longer involved at all. It’s now been revealed that Amazon has opted to turn it into a 90-minute film instead. A new writer is set to be brought on board, although has yet to be announced.

Rob Wilkins of Narrativia, who represents Terry Pratchett’s estate, executive produces, alongside BBC Studios Productions’ head of comedy, Josh Cole. The new season is produced by Amazon MGM Studios, BBC Studios Productions and Narrativia.

Good Omens‘ “Season 3”, or rather, “The Film”, will begin shooting in Scotland in early 2025. If you want to keep track of this or any other show, you can add them via our Never Miss system, and you’ll be notified when it gets a UK premiere date.
