ITVX has set a March free-to-air premiere date for Season 2 of the award-winning superpowered comedy ‘Extraordinary‘.
‘Extraordinary’ followed Jen (Máiréad Tyers), a young, self-aware woman who lives in a world where everyone has a superpower… except her. It’s a comedy about being young and finding your feet in a confusing world when all you’ll ever be is “ordinary”. It is a celebration of the anti-superhero, permitting people to embrace their general okay-ness.
After the surprise revelations at the climax of season one, the gang find themselves poised for their best attempts at being proper adults. Jen finally enrolls at the clinic, determined to take her journey to find her power seriously. She is embarking on a proper relationship with Jizzlord, and they’re trying their best at going steady, but not without hiccups. Having searched long and hard for his old life, Jizzlord’s past finally catches up with him. Jen and Jizz also struggle to find space for their relationship in the fallout of Carrie and Kash’s breakup. Carrie and Kash are still living in the flat and trying to be super mature and dignified but are learning the hard way that the “clean break” might just be a myth.
The cast also stars Luke Rollason as ex-cat/Jen’s boyfriend Jizzlord, with Bilal Hasna and Sofia Oxenham as Jen’s best friends Kash and Carrie.
Despite the show being award-winning, and also having a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, Disney, in their infinite wisdom, announced last month that they were cancelling the series after two seasons… However, we would say to still watch it, as it is brilliant and hilarious.
The comedy is written by series creator Emma Moran, and directed by Toby MacDonald and Jennifer Sheridan. ‘Extraordinary’ is executive produced by Sally Woodward Gentle and Lee Morris for Sid Gentle Films, the production company behind ‘Killing Eve’. Charles Dawson, Johanna Devereaux and Emma Moran also serve as executive producers. Charlie Palmer is Series Producer with Abíólá Rufai-Awójídé as Producer.
‘Extraordinary‘ Season 2 lands as a boxset on ITVX from Thursday 6th March 2025.
