Hit Comedy-Drama ‘Boarders’ To Return For Third And Final Season

by Dave Elliott

The BBC has announced that Boarders, the award-winning comedy-drama from BAFTA-nominated writer Daniel Lawrence Taylor, will return for a third and final term on BBC iPlayer and BBC Three. Filmed in Bristol and produced by Studio Lambert, the six-part series once again follows the journey of five South London teens navigating life at the elite boarding school, St. Gilbert’s.

The final series sees the return of Jodie Campbell (Leah), Sekou Diaby (Toby), Aruna Jalloh (Femi), Myles Kamwendo (Omar) and Josh Tedeku (Jaheim), with Daniel Lawrence Taylor reprising his role as their mentor, Gus. Notably, Taylor will also be making his directorial debut by helming the final episode of the show.

Back at St. Gilbert’s for their last term, the pressure is on. Exams are fast approaching, and the teens are determined to make their mark. But a fierce rivalry with a neighbouring school, now attended by Abby, sparks fresh drama that threatens to derail their plans. With new enemies, budding romances, and strained friendships, the final term will test the group like never before.

The returning ensemble also includes Niky Wardley (Carol), Assa Kanouté (Abby), Tallulah Greive (Beatrix), Rosie Graham (Florence), Georgina Sadler (Mabel), Zheng Xi Yong (Xiang), Archie Fisher (Cheddar), Andrew Harmon-Gray (Graham), Ruxandra Porojnicu (Yelena), Maxim Ays (Felix), Al Foran (Stanley), William Andrews (Mackers) and Yuriri Naka (Ms Kaneko), with more cast still to be announced.

Speaking about the show’s return, Daniel Lawrence Taylor said:

Boarders has been a deeply personal project for me, and it’s been incredible to see how audiences have connected with the characters. From day one, I wanted to create something funny, honest, and proudly Black – and in this final term, I hope to finish their story as they face their final year with greater challenges, deeper friendships and the looming question of life beyond school.”

Lindsay Salt, Director of BBC Drama, added:

Boarders has been a fun, sharp and timely addition to our screens since its launch two years ago, with star-making turns from its exceptional young cast. We’re so excited to return to St Gilbert’s one more time to bring viewers the conclusion of Daniel Lawrence Taylor’s hit comedy-drama.”

The new series is written by Taylor alongside Cherish Shirley, Temi Wilkey, Alex Straker, Emma Dennis-Edwards, and Yemi Oyefuwa. Direction duties will be shared between Yero Timi-Biu (Three Little Birds), Satya Bhabha (Big Door Prize, Gossip Girl, Love Life) and Taylor himself. Ali MacPhail returns as producer with Carleen Beadle-Larcombe as line producer and Mykaell Riley again serving as Musical Director.

On the international front, Boarders continues to gain momentum, with Tubi (USA) and ZDF (Germany) on board as lead international partners. The series is also set to air on Stan (Australia), Discovery (New Zealand), Amazon Prime Video (Africa), EITB (Spain), RTP (Portugal), RTL Hrvatska (Croatia), YLE (Finland) and VRT (Flemish Belgium).

Boarders‘ Season 3 set to premiere in 2026, with filming scheduled to begin later this year. If you want to keep track of this or any other shows, you can add them via our Never Miss system, and you’ll be notified when it gets a UK premiere date.
