Paramount+ UK & Ireland has announced a powerful new original drama for its growing slate of UK productions, as filming begins on ‘Baby Doll’ (working title), a six-part psychological thriller starring Alfie Allen (Game of Thrones, SAS Rogue Heroes) and Jill Halfpenny (The Feud, After the Flood).
Based on the best-selling novel by Hollie Overton, ‘Baby Doll’ tells the haunting and emotional story of twin sisters Lily and Abby, whose lives are ripped apart when Lily is abducted by a beloved local teacher, Rick Hansen. After enduring years of abuse in captivity, Lily finally escapes, but the return to freedom is far from simple. Her family has changed, the world has moved on, and Rick is still out there, determined to rewrite the story and silence her truth.
The series explores the traumatic aftermath for Lily, Abby and their mother Eve as they try to rebuild their fractured lives. It’s a raw, character-driven story of resilience, sisterhood and the dark lengths some will go to in order to control a narrative.
Tallulah Evans (The Forsyte Saga, My Fault: London) and Delphi Evans portray the central twin sisters, while the supporting cast includes Vikash Bhai (Limbo, Virdee), Niamh Walsh (Smother, Jamestown), Levi Brown (This Town, Invasion), Victoria Ekanoye (The Turkish Detective, Coronation Street), Holly Atkins (Mobland, Criminal Justice) and Kiran Krishnakumar (Everything Now).
The show is produced by Clapperboard and adapted for screen by David Turpin (The Ex-Wife), Suzanne Cowie (The Serial Killer’s Wife) and Nessah Muthy (Grantchester). Direction comes from Laura Way (Maxine) and Bindu de Stoppani (Beyond Paradise). Executive producers include Mike Benson and Suzi McIntosh for Clapperboard, with Mick Pantaleo producing.
