Disney+ UK is dialling up the drama with a bold new slate of unscripted originals, led by a major reboot of one of British television’s most iconic dating shows. Alongside ‘Blind Date’, the platform also announces two brand-new reality series, one following Wayne and Coleen Rooney, and another spotlighting soon-to-be parents Jamie Laing and Sophie Habboo.
‘Blind Date’ Returns, Reimagined for a New Generation
The highlight of the announcement is the return of ‘Blind Date’, Britain’s beloved dating game show that originally aired from 1985 to 2003 and was famously hosted by Cilla Black. The original series became a Saturday night TV staple, matching hopeful singles in front of millions of viewers, with its sliding wall and cheeky banter leaving a lasting mark on British pop culture.
Now, Disney+ is bringing the format back with a contemporary twist. The new series begins in a secret “Blind Date” location where contestants pick from three hidden suitors, separated by the show’s iconic wall. Once a match is made, couples will move in together for the summer, while new potential partners may appear behind the wall at any time, keeping everyone on their toes.
The 10-episode revival blends nostalgia with innovation, aiming to deliver romance, tension and plenty of surprises. It is produced by Stellify Media (a Sony Pictures Television-backed company) and SO TV (part of ITV Studios), with executive producers Matthew Worthy, Kieran Doherty, and Graham Stuart. The series was commissioned by Sean Doyle, Executive Director, Unscripted for Disney+.
‘The Rooneys’ (w/t): A Candid Look at Life After the Pitch
Also on the slate is ‘The Rooneys’ (working title), a 10-part docuseries offering exclusive access to football legend Wayne Rooney, media personality Coleen Rooney, and their four children. The series will follow Coleen as she embarks on new business ventures, while Wayne adapts to life after football, including the challenges of the school run and family life.
With milestone celebrations, holidays and everyday chaos, the show offers a grounded, honest portrait of one of the UK’s most high-profile couples. It is produced by Lorton Entertainment and Blast Films, with executive producers Julian Bird, Paul Stretford, Ashley Smith, Danny Horan, and Tanya Winston. Martin Webb serves as series director and Nonuk Walter as showrunner.
‘Jamie and Sophie: Raising Chelsea’ (w/t): Parenthood Gets Real

Rounding out the new commissions is ‘Jamie and Sophie: Raising Chelsea’ (working title), which follows reality TV favourites Jamie Laing and Sophie Habboo as they prepare to become parents. Known for their appearances on Made in Chelsea and their hit podcast NearlyParents, the couple now invite viewers into the most emotional and chaotic chapter of their lives so far.
The show captures their pregnancy journey, moving into their first family home, and navigating professional and personal challenges, all told with their usual honesty and humour. Produced by Dorothy St Pictures in association with Jampot Productions, the series also features Jamie and Sophie as executive producers, alongside Gaby Aung for Disney+.
In a joint statement, the couple said:
“For nearly a decade, we’ve brought audiences along the highs and lows of our personal and professional lives through TV, radio, social media and our podcasts. It’s such an honour to now partner with the incredible teams at Disney+ and Dorothy St Pictures to bring our next chapter to viewers across the globe.”
A Growing Slate of Unscripted Originals
Sean Doyle, Executive Director of Unscripted at Disney+, said:
“We’ve seen great success over the past couple of years with our Disney+ Original unscripted series such as Finding Michael, Coleen Rooney: The Real Wagatha Story, Brawn: The Impossible Formula 1 Story, and more recently, Flintoff.
Our distinctive offering of combining the most talked-about household names and their incredible life experiences has hit the right note with audiences who are looking for authentic and captivating real-life stories.
As our slate evolves, we want to continue working with world-class producers and homegrown talent in the reality space, with a focus on female-skewed factual. These shows will complement our existing and iconic reality offering from our US studio partners, including The Kardashians and The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives.
We’re really grateful to be working with the Rooneys again, along with Jamie and Sophie for the first time. And Blind Date is a brilliant opportunity to bring everyone’s favourite dating show to a large scale, with the potential to resonate with a whole new generation.”
Filming is underway on The Rooneys (w/t) and Jamie and Sophie: Raising Chelsea (w/t), while production on Blind Date will begin later this year.
