Apple TV+ is diving headfirst into suburban chaos with ‘Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed’, a new 10-episode dark comedy thriller starring Tatiana Maslany (Orphan Black, The Monkey, Invincible), and now joined by Jake Johnson (New Girl, Minx, Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse).
Created by David J. Rosen (Citadel, Sugar, Hunters), ‘Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed’ follows Paula (Maslany), a newly divorced mum who tumbles into a twisted spiral of blackmail, murder… and youth soccer. Johnson will co-star as Karl, Paula’s ex-husband, presumably entangled in the bizarre web of suburban secrets.
The series blends dark comedy with suspense and domestic drama, with direction and executive production from David Gordon Green (Halloween, The Righteous Gemstones), and production from Simon Kinberg and Audrey Chon for Genre Films, along with Bard Dorros for Anonymous Content. It hails from Apple Studios and Counterpart Studios.
Johnson is no stranger to complex comedy, having starred in and executive-produced two seasons of Minx, and recently wrote, directed and starred in the Hulu film Self Reliance. He also lent his voice again to Peter B. Parker in Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse, and is soon heading into production on The Dink, a pickleball comedy he’s also producing.
‘Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed’ Season 1 does not yet have a premiere date but will air on Apple TV+ in the UK. If you want to keep track of this or any other shows, you can add them via our Never Miss system, and you’ll be notified when it gets a UK premiere date. Visit Never Miss.
