The upcoming ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ reboot at Hulu is assembling its Scooby Gang, with five new series regulars joining the cast.

Faly Rakotohavana (Unprisoned), Ava Jean (Law & Order: SVU), Sarah Bock (Severance), Daniel Di Tomasso (CSI: Vegas) and Jack Cutmore-Scott (Frasier) have signed on to star opposite Ryan Kiera Armstrong (Star Wars: Skeleton Crew) and Sarah Michelle Gellar in the highly anticipated pilot.

Armstrong plays Nova, a brainy and introverted high schooler who has been chosen as the new Slayer, while Gellar not only reprises her iconic role as Buffy Summers but also serves as an executive producer on the project.

Rakotohavana will portray Hugo, a privileged yet likeable high-school geek. Jean plays Larkin, a “chronic do-gooder,” while Bock takes on Gracie, the leader of a group of church-going students. Di Tomasso will play Abe, Nova’s single father and a photojournalist, with Cutmore-Scott as Mr. Burke, a popular high school teacher who may fill a Watcher-like role for the new Slayer.

Oscar-winning director Chloé Zhao (Nomadland) is directing the pilot, which is written by Nora and Lilla Zuckerman (Poker Face). The project is described as “the next chapter in the Buffyverse” and comes from 20th Television and Searchlight TV. Gellar is joined by Gail Berman, Fran Kuzui, Kaz Kuzui and Dolly Parton as executive producers, all of whom worked on the original series.

While Gellar is confirmed to return, no other original cast members have been announced yet. “We will try to find a balance between new and old characters,” Gellar teased in a recent interview. “My dream is to bring back everyone who has died, but space will have to be made for new stories as well.”

The reboot is still at the pilot stage, and Hulu has yet to confirm if the project will move forward to series.
