Netflix’s Live-Action ‘One Piece’ Gets Early Season 3 Renewal as First Look at Season 2 Drops

Netflix has doubled down on One Piece, announcing during the annual One Piece Day celebration in Tokyo that the hit live-action pirate adventure will return in 2026 for its highly anticipated second season and has already been renewed for a third season ahead of its debut.

The streamer revealed a first look at ‘One Piece’ Season 2, teasing the next stage of Monkey D. Luffy’s (Iñaki Godoy) journey as he and the Straw Hats set sail for the Grand Line, a legendary stretch of ocean filled with bizarre islands, dangerous seas and some of their fiercest foes yet.

Season 2 Logline: Netflix’s epic high-seas pirate adventure ‘One Piece’ returns for Season 2, unleashing fiercer adversaries and the most perilous quests yet. Luffy and the Straw Hats venture into the extraordinary Grand Line, a place where danger and wonder await at every turn. Along the way, they will face bizarre islands and formidable new enemies as they continue the search for the world’s greatest treasure.

Season 3 will begin production later this year in Cape Town, South Africa, with Ian Stokes (Leverage: Redemption) joining Joe Tracz (Percy Jackson and the Olympians) as co-showrunner. Season 2 sees Matt Owens (Luke Cage) and Tracz at the helm.

What We Know So Far

Based on Eiichiro Oda’s record-breaking manga with over 500 million copies sold worldwide, ‘One Piece’ follows Monkey D. Luffy’s quest to find the fabled treasure known as the One Piece and become King of the Pirates. The live-action adaptation debuted in 2023, spending eight weeks on Netflix’s Global Top 10, hitting number one in more than 75 countries, and becoming the first English-language Netflix series to debut at number one in Japan.

It has since amassed nearly 100 million views and earned 11 Children’s & Family Emmy Award nominations, including Outstanding Young Teen Series. The show is produced in partnership with Shueisha and Tomorrow Studios (an ITV Studios partner), with executive producers including Oda, Marty Adelstein (Cowboy Bebop), Becky Clements (Snowpiercer), Tetsu Fujimura, Chris Symes, Christoph Schrewe, and Steven Maeda (Lost).
